AIPSO is a management organization and service provider for various insurance industry groups responsible for administering the residual market. We are a national organization that serves local customer needs. Centralization and standardization are key to many AIPSO services because of the inherent economies of scale and other efficiencies.  However, our organization is based on customer focus and recognizes the need for flexibility in serving customer groups with diverse interests.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Supervise and direct the day-to-day operations and staffing of the underwriting unit to
   ensure a high level of efficiency. Recommend changes to improve efficiencies to systems and       processes.
• Monitor the underwriting process for compliance with Plan rules, performance standards and        standard operating procedures. Perform self-audits to ensure compliance.
• Coordinate changes to the operation due to revisions and/or amendments to the
   Plan or procedures. Provide training to staff on changes.  Update internal standard operating        procedures accordingly.
• Develop and maintain relationships with external customers, producers and companies. Create    and maintain reports based on requests from internal and external customers.
• Handle complex underwriting problems and inquiries from Insurance Regulators,
   insureds and producers.
• Compile and monitor productivity and performance. Monitor transaction, system and phone           reports to determine performance meets metrics.
• Document and resolve system problems and oversee system enhancements in conjunction with Programming staff.
• Assist management in developing, managing, and controlling the annual budget.
• Assist management with implementation of new or revised procedures.

Education

Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university is preferred. Additional appropriate experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.  Insurance designations are a plus.

Experience

5 or more years of experience in the automobile insurance industry, with experience in the residual market automobile industry preferred.  Prior supervisory experience required.  Customer service, policy processing and underwriting experience is preferred.

  • Ability to collaborate with and provide guidance to staff on daily work product as well as the ability to provide training on more complex underwriting concepts.

  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or individuals.
  • Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and interact professionally and effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office productivity tools (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel) to manage work.
Salary Range: $75,200 to $120,200 Annual.  Actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity, and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; internal equity and other conditions of employment.
