AIPSO is a management organization and service provider for various insurance industry groups responsible for administering the residual market. We are a national organization that serves local customer needs. Centralization and standardization are key to many AIPSO services because of the inherent economies of scale and other efficiencies.  However, our organization is based on customer focus and recognizes the need for flexibility in serving customer groups with diverse interests.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Use analytical tools to interpret, extract, and transform data for analysis, assessing data quality and reasonability.
  • Assist in applying technology-based solutions to streamline analysis and reduce manual effort.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving data anomalies with statistical agents; maintain a tracking log of submissions received and outstanding.
  • Produce clear, accurate reports for management, committees, and external stakeholders.
  • Respond to basic internal and external requests related to company quota and participation information, including but not limited to the basis of company participation in the residual market and state credit programs.
  • Perform quality control checks of quota, ratio, and participation output prior to release to companies.
  • Create and maintain documentation of processes and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating the department’s section of the company website.
  • Assist with changes to AIPSO statistical programs and may participate in technical discussions with stat agents.
  • May participate in technical discussions with statistical agents.
  • Support maintenance of company records, including licensing, groupings, mergers, acquisitions, insolvencies, LAD, and pool members. Assist in managing user access to proprietary reports on AIPSO’s website, and support updates to the department’s website content.
  • Support the actuarial Data Team on technology projects and special research tasks.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, economics, data analytics, or a related quantitative field preferred. Additional appropriate experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.  Demonstrated commitment to on-going insurance education.

Experience:
Two or more years of relevant actuarial, statistical, or data-related experience.  Outstanding internship, co-op, and/or academic project experience may substitute for professional experience at the entry level.

Skills/

Knowledge:
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and other MS Office productivity tools to manage work.
  • Basic familiarity with at least one database or statistical software preferred (e.g., Access, SQL, SAS).
  • Exposure to analytical programming languages such as R or Python is a plus but not required.
  • Foundational quantitative and mathematical reasoning skills.
  • Ability to interpret Plan rules related to company participation in the residual market.
  • Effective problem-solving skills, including ability to analyze complex issues, find the root cause of the problem, and consider a wide range of alternatives before acting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or individuals.
  • Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and interact professionally and effectively in a team environment.

Salary Range: $52,700 - $84,300/$63,100 - $100,700 Annual.  Actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity, and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; internal equity and other conditions of employment.
