POSITION PURPOSE
The North County Food Bank Operations Supervisor supports the warehouse and volunteer team under the supervision of the Warehouse Manager, this position supports activities to include shipping, receiving, put-away, as well as tracking, recording and reconciling of warehouse inventory values, assigns volunteer activities and is responsible for volunteer engagement as well as partnering with the programs team in accordance with best practices set by the SDFB.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists teammates in solving work problems.
  • Responsible for supervising warehouse and volunteer coordinator teammates as appropriate to ensure all warehouse and production functions are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Interprets company policies to teammates and enforces safety regulations; Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Recommends measures to improve quality and suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency. 
  • Supervises teammates that verify required inbound/outbound paperwork with drivers, ensuring that all products are properly counted.
  • Receive produce/product from SDFB for distributions, programs and food center.
  • Receive third party trucks periodically.
  • Assist Warehouse Manager with interactions and support for partner agencies while in Food Center.
  • Supports Food Center Coordinator by checking out partner agencies in Primarius when needed.
  • Supports Food Pantry Coordinators by ensuring the pantry has all the necessary inventory levels at opening and during the day.
  • Complete end of week stats.
  • Responsible for weekly check of power jacks, forklift and other warehouse equipment typically on Saturdays.
  • Perform monthly safety inspection of the warehouse, check temperature logs and fire extinguishers.
  • Prep and stage all products in the morning for emergency drive through distribution.
  • Review partner agency and drivers calendars to assist with ordering produce from SDFB for emergency drive through, food center and distributions.
  • Conduct with bi-weekly case count, as needed.
  • Perform warehouse picker duties; pull out produce/product, check product daily for viability, state project areas.
  • Complete monthly and quarterly inventory in an accurate and efficient manner, including leading teammates in assisting with counts for all inventory across programs in the warehouse.
  • Check agency and driver calendars daily for distributions and pick up of products for partner agencies.
  • Power wash loading dock, as needed.
  • Direct warehouse staff to clean and organize warehouse bins, racking, etc., as needed.
  • Review diaper invoices for participating agencies and pull any diapers that are due for the following day for delivery and/or future orders.
  • Process third party trucks and receive diapers into NCFB inventory.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work area and assists in maintaining the security and safety of the warehouse.
  • Leads in planning personnel safety and warehouse protection activities.
  • Supervises warehouse staff and assigns tasks as need ensuring follow up and completion of tasks
  • Responsible for creating and giving presentations about the food bank, and the volunteer program, to inform/train volunteers in support of the San Diego Food Bank programs.
  • Responsible for direct reports for attendance, timekeeping, performance and all other staff management relations.
  • Direct contact for volunteers; schedule and track volunteer shifts; follow-up on voicemails, phone calls, and emails with volunteers; update volunteer schedules and calendars and provide frequent updates to staff; communicate with Program staff and other departments to determine and fulfill volunteer needs; and other related duties as needed.
  • Record keeping, determining where volunteers are needed, as well as working collaboratively with SDFB staff to increase volunteer knowledge about other services and needs of the organization
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • 2-3 years experience working in a warehouse environment in shipping/receiving, inventory control, or closely related field.
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience would be considered.

The ideal candidate will have worked in all areas of a warehouse setting, exhibit a willingness to expand their responsibilities, have a solid attendance record, have flexibility in their hours and have a safety mentality that provides a safe working environment for themselves and their coworkers. 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:

  • Lift 65 pounds.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • CA Driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish/English preferred.

COMPENSATION
  • This is a full-time, non-exempt/hourly/benefited position at $28.00 - $31.00 per hour depending on experience.

WORK SCHEDULE 
  • Tuesday to Saturday, 6am – 2:30pm
  • This position occasionally requires overtime
  • This position is an on-site position; hybrid or remote are not available
