Position Summary:
Serves as JEA’s primary contact with industrial customers. Provides and coordinates internal and external technical assistance to meet the needs of customers. Works with other Business Development personnel in marketing efforts. Works with the Jackson Chamber on existing industry projects.
Criteria:
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in technical field with at least three years of experience in providing technical services for industrial and/or commercial facilities or related utility work. Experience in marketing, business development, industrial relations, or related services desired.
Skills/Abilities:
Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Must be proficient with the use of Microsoft Excel. The ability to effectively write technical reports and present them before a group.
Certifications/Licenses:
None.
Physical Demands:
The ability to lift, carry, and use heavy tools and materials. The ability to use a computer effectively. The ability to safely operate a standard equipped JEA motor vehicle. The ability to orally communicate by phone and person to person. The ability to see and read printed material and distinguish colors. The ability to read blueprints and other engineering documents. Ambulatory, including the ability to climb stairs and ladders. Ability to be certified for respirator use and use standard personal protective equipment (PPE). Strong customer facing skills.
Work Environment:
Indoor office conditions and substantial amount of field work meeting with clients and walking in manufacturing facilities.
Driving:
Valid Tennessee Class "D" license.
Telephone:
Must maintain an operating telephone and furnish the number to his/her supervisor.

Essential Functions:
- Identifies large key account customers by reviewing electric, gas, water, and wastewater revenue and load information.
- Works with industrial customers to provide technical assistance related to power quality, power factor analysis, HVAC calculations, loading and efficiency studies, and lighting layout recommendations for indoor and outdoor applications.
- Coordinates internal and external technical assistance through various entities (i.e.- JEA, TVA, Texas Gas, GRI, EPRI, AWWA, WEF, etc.).
- Develops operational and technical understanding of all JEA utility systems to be able to explain and troubleshoot issues with industrial customers.
- Estimates utility consumption associated with projects and calculates sample bills pertaining to projected load information.
- Assists billing department with billing preparation and review for key account customers.
- Prepares and maintains electric and gas contracts for industrial and large commercial customers.
- Maintains a working knowledge of rates and rate structures for all systems including available incentives.
- Assists Senior Vice Presidents in identifying and developing new rate schedules.
- Provides detailed rate analysis and bill comparisons for industrial customers for all systems.
- Coordinates displays, tours, luncheons, and other events related to improving industrial relations.
- Informs industrial customers of rate changes, new policies or procedures, and other relevant changes.
- Participates with the Jackson Chamber in Existing Industry Program.
- Visits key industrial customers on a regular basis.
- Makes presentations regarding studies and recommendations.
- Assists department members with promotional projects as necessary.
- Prepares letters, technical reports, and summaries for customers.
- Directs other promotional projects as assigned.
- Prepares budget data for area of responsibility.
- Develops and maintains a database of key account customers including location, key personnel, products, revenue, loads, rate schedules, special agreements, process equipment, etc.
- Continues to improve work processes and procedures.
- Ensures that proper safety procedures are followed on all work assignments.
- Keeps abreast of issues related to the buying and selling of gas (i.e.- pricing, supply, transportation, etc.).
- Cross-trains with employees within the department.
- Serves as back-up contact for the Manager of Commercial & Industrial Services and the VP of Economic & Industrial Development.
- Performs additional duties as requested.
