This position is a second shift position with regular shift hours of 3:30PM to 12AM, Monday through Friday. Overtime is worked as needed and will be worked at the end of the regular shift.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This primary responsibility of this position is to change or modify component parts of long block engines to meet customer specifications.  Employees in this area perform disassembly, modification of component parts, and assembly of complete engines.  The position will assist in others areas of the Assembly Department as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs routine and non-routine production duties by following written processes to assemble either a complete engine or engine components.

  • Operate testing equipment to inspect operate, and test completed products to verify functioning, machine capabilities, or conformance to customer specifications

  • From experience resolves routine production problems, and reports other problems to the Team Leader or Production Supervisor for assistance

  • Maintains good housekeeping in the department

  • Maintains a safe working environment by following company safety policies

  • Works within production processes to ensure compliance with TS-16949 standards

  • Participates in and supports the principles of Open Book Management

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed with exposure to harsh conditions such as: dust, fumes, noise, and varying temperatures for extended periods of time.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job.   While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk and hear.  Sitting 5%, standing/walking 95%.   Frequently lift and or move up to 50 pounds. 

SKILL/ KNOWLEDGE/ ABILITY/ EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or GED is required.

  • Specialized training and/or job knowledge in engine and engine components is critical to the quality and quantity of output from the assembler.

  • Knowledge of machine and tools, including their design, uses, maintenance requirements and ability to use them safely in the work environment.Ability to use hand, air, and power tools.

  • Ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work instructions.

  • Ability to communicate with coworkers.To talk to others to convey information effectively.To give people your full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

  • Ability to perform basic math; add and subtract numbers.

  • Ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.

  • Experience in a manufacturing paced assembly line setting preferred.

  • Requires effective relationship management skills with co-workers in a team environment.

  • Basic computer literacy required.Ability to use computer systems to retrieve work instruction and bill of materials (BOMs).
