POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, this individual is responsible for hourly recruitment, benefits administration, new hire processing and on-boarding, and internal and legal training. Further responsibilities include development and administration of personnel rules and regulations and programs for promoting employee morale through training initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Establish hiring and retention practices that seek to foster employee job satisfaction and high morale.
  • Keep abreast of legislation affecting human resources; trains all employees and monitors company policies to ensure compliance.
  • Administer benefits and wellness programs to maximize job satisfaction
  • Administer FMLA and ADA programs in accordance with company policy and applicable laws
  • Provide needs assessment and develop appropriate training programs.
  • Assist in developing and communicating the strategic vision of the department
  • Interfaces with Corporate HR on coordination of centralized tasks relating to health insurance, training opportunities, and other initiatives.
  • Implements, trains, and ensures compliance of company safety policies.
  • Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established OSHA requirements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employees and tenants at all locations to ensure human resources standards are within compliance.
  • Required to follow safety standards.  Required to wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure that rules concerning confidentiality and retention are followed.
  • Develop regular reports for management and corporate office.
  • Participate in the budgetary process for the Human Resources department.
  • Participate in and support the principles of Open Book Management and recognize the responsibilities of being an owner of the company.
  • Promote a positive working environment to achieve the organization’s goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed mostly in a controlled atmosphere. Some exposure to harsh conditions—such as: dust, fumes, noise, and varying temperatures—for short periods of time is possible. This employee will be required to demonstrate continued knowledge of Haz/Com regulations and requirements. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk and hear. Sitting 75%, standing 10%, walking 15%. Ability to lift and carry 10-25 lbs. for short distances. Required to tour facility at least daily.

SKILL/ KNOWLEDGE/ ABILITY/ EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of human resources or safety experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a logistics or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of Windows based programs are required.
  • Must be extremely reliable, desire to learn and succeed and a high level of energy.
  • Must be able to make judgments and decisions considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of executives, managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
  • Requires the desire to expand personal competencies and capabilities through training and education.
