JOB SUMMARY

The Technician will work closely with the Team Leader to clean-up, disassemble, repair, and assemble components.  This position is responsible for the throughput and quality of the product which is measured to a standard.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Adheres to all safety guidelines, and uses Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) preventing incidents or injury to self or others.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area for safe operation as well as customer presentation.
  • With supervision, performs disassembly of equipment in a manner that meets standard. 
  • Cleans and inspects the components during the disassembly process.
  • Recommends to supervision components that can be re-used or re-furbished.
  • With supervision, assembles final product following OEM manuals and check sheets.   
  • Creates usable finished product, which meets specification within the standard time allowed following all prescribed work instructions.
  • Performs work according to the highest quality standards to produce a superior end product, meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
  • Participates in, and supports, the principles of Open Book Management.

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Applies the Non-Conforming Process (NCR) when appropriate.
  • Completes job check sheets, inspection sheets, parts orders and machine shop request forms.
  • Performs preventative maintenance inspections and crane inspections.
  • Communicate details of problems to Team Leader.
  • Properly disposes hazardous materials and waste in accordance with OSHA, EPA, MDNR, and other local health and safety guidelines.
  • Responsible for staging and disposition of parts.
  • Performs basic measurements using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, gages, or torque wrenches.
  • Performs preventative maintenance inspections and crane inspections.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of disassembly process demonstrating the appropriate sequence. 
  • Knowledge of parts re-usability. 
  • Demonstrates the ability to deliver parts ready for assembly.
  • Ability to make judgments on parts restoration based on a set of pre-determined criteria.
  • Demonstrated ability to read a blueprint and find a basic dimension.
  • Ability to understand basic safety, ISO and NCR process.
EQUIPMENT & TOOL EXPERIENCE
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely.
  • Ability to operate a crane and hoist safely.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools needed to perform job duties.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or GED required. 
  • Post secondary mechanical or heavy equipment mechanic certificate or degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • One to five (1-5) years of experience in heavy equipment rebuild or related industry.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL TO THE JOB
  • Routinely lifts and moves products and heavy material with weight up to sixty (60) pounds.
  • Frequently remains in a standing and walking position to perform inventory duties.
  • Frequently communications with team leaders to determine production needs.
  • Occasionally views checklists and manuals on computers.
  • Occasionally stoops, kneels, or bends to move equipment and materials.
  • Occasionally climbs stairs and ladders to move material.
