Machine engine components using equipment such as mills, lathes, grinders, and presses.  Produce components to required tolerances in preparation for the engine assembly process.

  • Operate machine shop equipment such as milling machines and lathes, surface grinders, seat/guide/stud presses and other precision machining equipment.
  • Perform equipment setup including aligning and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories or other materials to machines. 
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance to keep machine tools in proper condition and diagnose machine tool malfunctions to determine need for adjustments or repairs.
  • Create and continuously evaluate machining procedures and recommend modifications for improved efficiency or adaptability.
  • Visual and quantifiable inspection calculating dimensions or tolerances using instruments such as micrometers or calipers.
  • Understand the CMM data to know when machines need adjusted.  Adjust as necessary and check adjustments for accuracy.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines including wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safely operating machinery to prevent incidents or injury to self or others.
  • Create and maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner consistent with the organization’s goals. 
  • Participates in and supports the principles of Open Book Management.
  • Must have exemplary work attendance.
    Work is performed mostly in an uncontrolled atmosphere.  Some exposure to harsh conditions—such as:  dust, fumes, noise, and varying temperatures—for long periods of time is possible.  This employee will be required to demonstrate continued knowledge of Haz/Com regulations and requirements.  All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.
    While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk and hear.  Physical effort requirements consist of regular lifting, pushing and pulling material weighing up to 50 pounds regularly. When there is an occasion to move heavy material greater than 50 pounds, the operator will request assistance from another operator, or utilize provided lifting equipment. Sitting 5%; Standing/Walking 95%.
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience and specialized training with ability to demonstrate proficiency in engine component machining.
  • Experience performing close tolerance machining.
  • Ability to perform basic math including addition, subtraction and metric conversions
  • Ability to use hand, air, and power tools.
  • Experience in a manufacturing paced assembly line setting.
  • Must have positive attitude, time management and organizational skills
  • Must be extremely reliable and maintain a high level of energy
  • Must have reliable transportation
