The Quality Inspector’s function is to develop and implement quality inspection methods and processes based around critical industry part families within the Aerospace and Defense applications. MUST be experienced in programming complex inspection models utilizing PC-DMIS, proven knowledge performing inspections of base model definition (BMD), and GD&T. The Quality Inspector's responsibilities include the following:

Layout Inspection
  • Perform visual and mechanical inspections using measurement and test equipment such as: micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, optical comparator, bore gages etc. Generate and develop inspection processes.  Often utilizing vision inspection equipment and processes. 
  • Interpret, assess, and inspect GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) controls to customer engineering drawings. 
  • Perform development, first Article and production part testing.  Document non-conforming products during inspection

CMM Inspection
  • Perform programming and process implementation using PC DMIS software. 
  • Experienced with model-based definition and using CAD model to implement offline inspection programming. 
  • Interpret, assess, and inspect GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) controls to customer engineering drawings. 
  • Document non-conforming products during inspection
  • Designing and implementing inspection tooling. 

Structured Blue Light Scanning
  • High level aptitude of using, implementing, and developing GOM scanning strategies of unique and critical AM parts. 
  • Experienced in using, implementing, and programming within GOM Inspect software.  Macro experience a bonus. 

Additional Responsibilities
  • Calibrate inspection equipment and assist in maintaining calibration database.
  • Ensures products & workmanship meet and/or exceed standards, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Complete first article inspections via AS9102 inspection form. 
  • Recommend changes to improve quality and reduce cost.
  • Respond to quality engineering and management requests in a timely manner.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience within AS9100 manufacturing and inspection environment. 
  • Prior experience with CAD design Software SolidWorksCreoNX/SpaceClaim
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills to include report writing, requirements derivation, and documentation, as well as design review presentations
  • Formal Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) training and experience
