The AM Mechanical/Structural Project Engineer is a dynamic position whose function is to develop, manage, and support the metal 3D printing process for use in thermal management components for Aerospace and Aviation applications. The Engineer's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
 
  • Own and drive efforts to simulate, design, print and analyze thermal management products and solutions. Design, support, and generate build files for printing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects. Ability to own customer requests and follow them to completion. Manage contract work scope and identify scope changes.
  • Respond to customer inquiries related to product design and deliveries. Generate Quotes. Generate base timing, costs, and scheduling.
  • Demonstrated understanding of material behavior. Ability to apply CAD software (SOLIDWORKS preferred), ABAQUS CAE, or ANSYS FE software
  • Perform thermal heat transfer analysis and stress analysis
  • Perform evaluations related to life assessment and root cause failure analysis. Employ fatigue, corrosion, and high temperature creep life assessment
  • CFD experience (desired)
  • Thermal/Fluids testing experience (desired)
  • Review part drawings to identify critical features and improvements for additive manufacturing.
  • Refine CAD data for design of manufacturing.
  • Coordinate efforts with internal Beehive3D stakeholders and external partners where appropriate.
  • Recommend acquisition or development of additional tools, software, and equipment related to CAE efforts.
  • Develop and maintain an external network of relevant vendors that can support Beehive3D’s thermal management ambitions.
  • Willingness to travel as required

Educational background, work experience and personal attributes
 
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, with advanced degrees (MS or Ph.D.) preferred.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in utilizing various CAD and CAE techniques for product development, preferably with the AM industry.
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct experience with metal additive manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of Heat Transfer and fluid mechanics with a focus on Additive Manufacturing.
  • Must have experience with CAD and CAE- related software applications for Additive Manufacturing.
  • Experience in utilizing a variety of additive manufacturing techniques.
  • Ability to work with professionals at all levels and to communicate with others effectively.
  • Ability to execute responsibilities independently, with minimal day-to-day oversight.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills to include report writing, requirements derivation, and documentation, as well as design review presentations.
  • Strong workload management and follow-up skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Capable of performing duties with limited supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels within and outside of Beehive3D in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Previous start-up experience beneficial.
