Mechanical Superintendent
The Mechanical Superintendent completes self perform mechanical projects as per plans and specifications on time and on budget in cooperation with the Project Manager and Project Superintendent assigned to the overall project.

Mechanical Superintendent
The Mechanical Superintendent completes self perform mechanical projects as per plans and specifications on time and on budget in cooperation with the Project Manager and Project Superintendent assigned to the overall project.
How will you contribute to the team?
To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation, policies and procedures in daily operations.
- Review and continually monitor Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s) completed by the foreman to ensure compliance to the requirements of the process and safety of the work.
- Ensure a steady flow of communication and collaboration between the Mechanical Division, Formwork Crews, Electrical Sub and the Project Superintendent and Project Manager.
- Maintain a steady flow of communication with Owners, Architects, Suppliers and Consultants.
- Direct the work of Kenaidan Mechanical Crews and sub-trades on site.
- Provides timely and effective feedback to the Crews on performance.
- Ensure quality of mechanical work performed.
- Maintain accurate and concise records of cost codes and be familiar with current and projected costs. Verify and audit site costs against budget.
- Manage and foresee potential problems in design/construction.
- Work in conjunction with the Project Manager and Mechanical Estimating to develop the overall project schedule for Mechanical and ensure that this is coordinated with the Project Superintendent and Project Manager. Maintain and revise the schedule as required.
- Develop a three-week work schedule and assist mechanical subcontractor(s) in scheduling their work and provide direction where necessary.
- Co-ordinate equipment and manpower to achieve schedule requirements.
- Assist Project Manager with providing input for monthly billing and trade billings.
- Code, verify, and approve time sheets, purchase orders, work authorities, etc.
- Identify potential additional work with Project Manager and track as required.
- Attend regular trade meetings, safety meetings, etc. ensure meeting minutes are recorded, posted and distributed.
- Maintain daily job site diary.
- Provide weekly quantity reports for labour cost.
- Monitor and provide for as built drawings.
- Actively maintain punch list and see them to completion.
- Assist in the development of site logistics, including layout of site access and lay down areas, provide adequate temporary facilities, enforce housekeeping on site, provide dewatering and slope control as required, etc.
- Continual review of the Contract Drawings to identify discrepancies between the various disciplines.
- Review and approve process pipe and spool drawings.
Education and Experience:
- 10 to 15 years construction related experience, with minimum of 5 years in a managerial role
- College Diploma or Tradesman
- Ability to work well in a team environment, and offer leadership to staff and subtrades
- Strong Computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook), and knowledge of scheduling software, plumbing code and estimating is an asset
- High level technical understanding, as it relates to Construction industry
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to deal effectively with crews, trades and suppliers
- Strong organizational skills
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, as it relates to the Construction industry
- Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications and trade contractor’s scope
