Design Manager
The Design Manager is responsible to oversee the creative process of a project, coordinating design teams, developing design strategies, and ensuring the final output aligns with brand vision. Key tasks include project management, team leadership, and strategic planning.

Design Manager
The Design Manager is responsible to oversee the creative process of a project, coordinating design teams, developing design strategies, and ensuring the final output aligns with brand vision. Key tasks include project management, team leadership, and strategic planning.
How will you contribute to the team?
To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Lead and manage design teams, ensuring that designs align with project requirements, quality standards, budget, and client expectations.
- Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring that design milestones are met.
- Work closely with architects, engineers, clients and other stakeholders to ensure that designs meet all specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop product design strategies and roadmaps.
- Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and regulations.
- Lead design reviews and provide constructive feedback to designers to help them grow and improve.
- Implement quality control procedures to maintain high standards in design output.
- For project pursuits ensure consultants are engaged appropriately and that risks and opportunities are identified, and mitigation plans are in place.
- Ensure that detailed records of design processes, decisions, and changes are maintained for future reference and compliance.
- Address any design-related issues that arise during the construction process.
- Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices to inform design decisions and ensure competitive advantage.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external design agencies and vendors to augment internal capabilities. Understand and negotiate the contracts of consultants.
- Monitor, co-ordinate, and manage design work by consultants and outsourced designers as appropriate.
- Lead, coach, develop and motivate direct reports. Ensure that performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner.
- Manage team morale ensuring that the project team is working cohesively and address in a timely manner.
Education and Experience:
- A degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in design management within the construction industry with at least 3 years of experience with directly managing staff.
- Proven work experience as a Design Manager or a similar role.
- Excellent knowledge of design software, including Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong leadership skills to manage and motivate a team of designers.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadline.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients.
- In-depth knowledge of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout design.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback to designers to improve their skills and the quality of their work.
- Professional certifications in project management or design can be beneficial.
