Mechanical Field Supervisor
 
The Mechanical Field Supervisor is required to successfully complete self-perform Mechanical projects as per plans and specifications on time and on budget in cooperation with the Mechanical Project Manager and the overall project team assigned to the project.

How will you contribute to the team?

To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
 
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety legislation, policies and procedures in daily operations.
  • Review and monitor Job Safety Analysis (JSA's) to ensure compliance to the requirements of the process and safety of the work.
  • Ensure a steady flow of communication and collaboration between the Mechanical Division and project team as well as with Owners, Architects, Suppliers and Consultants.
  • Direct the work of mechanical crews and sub-trades on site to ensure the quality of mechanical work performed.
  • Verify and audit site costs against budget.
  • Manage and foresee potential problems in design/construction.
  • Work in conjunction with the mechanical project team to develop the overall project schedule for the Mechanical work and ensure that this is coordinated with the project team.  Maintain and revise the schedule monthly as required.
  • Develop a three-week work schedule and assist mechanical subcontractor(s) in scheduling their work and provide direction where necessary.
  • Co-ordinate equipment and manpower to achieve schedule requirements.
  • Provide input for monthly billing and trade billings.
  • Provide weekly quantity reports for labour cost.
  • Monitor and provide direction for as built drawings.
  • Assist in the development of site logistics, including layout of site access and lay down areas.
  • Continual review of the Contract Drawings to identify discrepancies between the various disciplines.
  • Review and approve process pipe and spool drawings.

Education and Experience: 
  • 10 to 15 years construction related experience, with minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • College Diploma or Red Seal Tradesman
  • Strong Computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, Blue Beam), and knowledge of scheduling software, TSSA/ASME, plumbing code and estimating is an asset;
  • High level technical understanding, as it relates to the construction industry;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills;
  • Ability to deal effectively with hourly workforce, trades and suppliers;
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, as it relates to the construction industry;
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications and trade contractor’s scope.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, and offer leadership to Kenaidan staff and sub trades.

Working Conditions: 
  • Located on site, personal protective equipment (i.e. Hard hat, safety boots) required at all times when on site.
  • Travel to remote project sites as required.
