We currently have an opening in Mississauga, ON for a:
Senior Accountant
The Senior Accountant will be in charge of ensuring the validity of accounting transactions with a specific focus on general ledger transactions, Accounts Receivable, cash flow and payroll.
How will you contribute to the team?
To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Prepares weekly cash disbursement summary for cash management purposes
- Prepares standard journal entries
- Analyzes and reconciles general ledger accounts
- Prepares and audit monthly financial statements for multiple entities
- Prepares government remittances
- Prepares monthly departmental cost reporting and analysis
- Actively participates in Year-end close by performing reconciliations and prepares year-end working papers and liaise with auditors
- Responds to inquiries from and ensures compliance to banks and government offices
- Oversees project receivable and cash application
- Prepares monthly department statements
- Performs monthly G&A Analysis and Forecast
- Assists in preparation of annual budget
- Prepares annual all-inclusive project charge-out rates evaluations and advises on potential adjustments
- Manages online payments
- Performs Construction Cost Accountant function for the assigned projects
- Provides back up to other departments
Education and Experience:
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in Accounting or Business
- CPA designation or working towards is required
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior accounting role
- Sound knowledge of GAAP and ASPE
- Strong knowledge of Canadian Taxation
- Prior experience with the following accounting functions is required: GL & Financial Statements, Banking, Fixed Asset Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Payroll
- Prior experience in the construction industry would be an asset
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Effective at problem solving and decision making
- Leadership Skills (coaching, motivating, delegating, managing performance)
- Must be able to think and plan strategically
- Time Management and Organization Skills
