The Bloor-Yonge Capacity Improvements Project is a significant undertaking by the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) to expand and modernize Bloor-Yonge station – Canada’s busiest subway hub. This initiative is focused on meeting both current and future ridership needs by improving the station’s efficiency, capacity, and accessibility.


The Kenaidan Murphy Joint Venture (KMJV) is committed to transforming the station to enable faster, more reliable, and more comfortable travel throughout the Greater Toronto Area. The project will deliver upgraded facilities, contributing to a safer, cleaner, and higher-capacity subway system for passengers.

Estimator
 
The Estimator will support the preparation of cost estimates and commercial inputs for a major rail/transit infrastructure project. This role is critical in developing accurate, competitive, and executable project estimates, working closely with engineering, construction, and commercial teams throughout the development phase.

How will you contribute to the team? 

To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following: 
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates including labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and indirect costs
  • Perform quantity take-offs and measure work items based on drawings, specifications, and design information
  • Review contract documents and identify scope requirements, risks, and cost considerations
  • Support development of target price estimates within a progressive design-build environment
  • Monitor design development and update estimates to reflect scope changes and evolving project requirements
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations, ensuring alignment with project scope
  • Prepare bid analysis, estimate breakdowns, and cost comparison reports
  • Participate in estimating reviews, tender meetings, and project discussions
  • Assist with risk identification, contingency development, and value engineering opportunities
  • Coordinate with design, construction, and commercial teams to ensure estimates are accurate and constructible
  • Prepare RFIs to clarify scope gaps or ambiguities in design and tender documents
  • Support preparation of submission packages and estimate documentation

Education and Experience: 
  • Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • 3–8+ years of estimating experience on infrastructure or construction projects
  • Experience with rail/transit or major infrastructure projects is preferred
  • Experience working on collaborative Design-Build, Alliance, or Joint Venture projects is considered an asset
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimating practices
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and project documentation
  • Strong communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with estimating software and tools (e.g., Excel, Bluebeam, cost databases)

Salary Range:  Between $105,000 to $125,000 depending on experience.
