Project Overview:
Oakville GO station provides critical transport infrastructure and requires improvements and modernization to support an increased number of passengers and enhance operational performance of the network. The project will include station building upgrades, upgraded platform works, accessibility improvements and parking lot improvements.

The Kenaidan Murphy Joint Venture (KMJV) has been awarded the construction manager contract to help inform the detailed design, and provide construction management advice, for upgrades to Oakville GO station during the project development stage.

Commercial Manager

The Commercial Manager will be responsible for leading all commercial and contractual functions on the project. The successful candidate will oversee procurement, contract administration, change management, forecasting, reporting, claims management, and subcontract administration while supporting project delivery objectives.

How will you contribute to the team? 

To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following: 

  • Lead the commercial management of the project from pre-construction through closeout.
  • Develop and implement commercial strategies that support project objectives and profitability.
  • Oversee contract administration activities, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Manage subcontract procurement, negotiations, awards, and administration.
  • Lead change management processes, including pricing, evaluation, negotiation, and execution.
  • Review, assess, and provide recommendations regarding contractual risks and opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain project cost forecasts, budgets, and commercial reporting.
  • Monitor project financial performance and provide regular updates to project leadership.
  • Support project controls, earned value reporting, and cash flow management.
  • Manage claims, notices, dispute resolution, and commercial correspondence.
  • Coordinate commercial activities across design consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
  • Support and mentor commercial, procurement, and contract administration personnel.
  • Participate in risk management workshops and project planning sessions.
  • Ensure proper documentation, record keeping, and audit readiness throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate closely with project management teams to proactively identify and mitigate commercial risks.

Education and Experience: 

  • Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Commerce, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
  • Professional designations such as PQS, MRICS, CCP, PMP, CET, P.Eng., or equivalent are considered assets.
  • 8+ years of experience in commercial management, contract administration, quantity surveying, project controls, or cost management within construction or infrastructure environments.
  • Experience on major transportation, transit, rail, infrastructure, civil, or public-sector projects.
  • Demonstrated success managing large subcontract packages and complex contract structures.
  • Experience working within Construction Management, Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, Alliance, or Joint Venture environments is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Metrolinx, GO Expansion, TTC, municipal, provincial, or public-sector clients is considered a strong asset.
