SUMMARY
The Cline Cellars & Jacuzzi Family Vineyards Planning & Procurement Manager is responsible for managing production planning, bill of materials and new product development, dry goods procurement and inventory. The role collaborates with the marketing, sales, direct-to-consumer, and production departments to identify finished wine inventory needs, packaging priorities, and production volumes to meet ever changing demands as dictated by market conditions.    

A successful candidate will have a working knowledge in packaging and procurement, in addition to core competencies in process and systems development, and supply chain planning.  The candidate will work to foster good vendor relations, drive best practices, quality control and stay within predetermined packaging COGs targets.

Time allocation for this position will be approximately 50% planning, 30% reporting, and 20% vendor management. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Production Planning to include:
  • A core responsibility of this position is to generate the Production Inventory Report (PIR). Using the Sales Forecast and 5-year plan, this report drives all dry good and bulk wine needs for current year as well as informs long term supply decisions.
  • Present PIR to stakeholders on a quarterly basis
  • Publishes and manages the weekly/monthly/yearly bottling schedule in partnership with winemaking to optimize in stock wine SKUs; meets weekly with production team to review schedule.
  • Creates and maintains accurate finished goods BOMs in Navision.
  • Monitors forecasts to identify changes or to determine their effect on supply chain activities.
  • Functions as single point of contact for issues of product status, product quantities, and time of delivery.
  • Minimizes production downtime due to packaging related issues and eliminates unplanned reworks.

Procurement to include:
  • Generates and sends purchase orders for dry goods to vendors allowing for the required lead times to maintain the production schedule.
  • Makes improvement recommendations and implements supply chain processes that support business strategies that can adapt to ever changing forecasts.
  • Optimizes order volumes to minimize purchase price variance impacts on finished goods COGs.
  • Directly communicates annual material forecasts to suppliers and provides updates that reflect GDS updates to ensure availability of dry goods.
  • Investigates and corrects discrepancies found between procurement and receival activities and accounting records.
  • Ensures a consistent supply of raw materials services at established specifications and costs.
  • Establish and maintains reliable sources and partners for materials, services, and information through robust vendor selection and monitoring processes.
  • Manages procurement budget to deliver target packaging spend per case, by item.  Contains or improves costs wherever possible without compromising established quality standards.
  • Tracks annual packaging spend and prepares annual packaging cost analysis for accounting
  • Works with internal Production team and outside vendors to resolve discrepant material issues
  • Is an internal subject matter expert regarding Label / TTB Compliance, including submission and maintenance
  • Builds long term mutually productive relationships with supplier partners
  • Solicits and evaluates packaging bids, negotiate packaging contracts, minimize costs necessary to achieve target quality levels
  • Evaluates and monitors vendor performance
  • Works with vendors to implement package changes/refinements
  • Stays informed on developments of new technologies and or materials as they relate to wine packaging and closures

Dry Goods to include:
  • Maintains dry goods inventories ensuring a controlled flow of materials timed to meet production requirements
  • Performs physical inventory of packaging goods on a monthly basis
  • Establish a quality control process for packaging goods
  • Monitors and communicates inventory projections internally
  • Assists in bottling quality assurance programs when needed
  • Ensures dry goods inventory levels are optimal and provide sufficient coverage to meet forecasted demands

New Product Development to include:
  • Supports all scenario and inventory analysis requests
  • Participates in the coordination of engineering changes, product line extensions, or new product launches to ensure orderly and timely transitions in material or production flow
  • In conjunction with Marketing team, coordinates product development management to deliver NPD and packaging to agreed launch dates, specifications, and costs

QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain or a related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Navision and VinoEZ a plus
  • 3+ years of successful experience in Supply Chain and/or manufacturing operations, including: production planning, scheduling, inventory control
  • Ability to work closely and collaboratively with others
  • Ability to work under pressure while managing multiple projects and priorities under tight timelines
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Physical Demands
  • Work environment involves continuous sitting with occasional standing
  • Intermittent walking, bending, twisting and kneeling may be needed
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs intermittently
  • Ability to push/pull up to 50 lbs intermittently
  • Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or so for quality control issues
