Position: OFF-PREMISE REGIONAL CHAIN SALES MANAGER: MIDWEST

The primary focus of the OFF-PREMISE REGIONAL CHAIN SALES MANAGER: MIDWEST will be furthering the winery’s business with Mid-West Regional and National Chain Retailers while working closely with our wholesaler partners.  A current residence in Detroit or Cincinnati is preferable for this position, but we will consider other locations within the territory.  Successful candidates will be high-energy, high-credibility personalities who love to close deals, love working in the wine industry and are proven, trusted relationship builders with existing connections within the channel.

  • Exhibit the highest level of professionalism while also achieving annual revenue and accounts sold goals.
  • Manage a defined target list of chains within the territory at a very high level of execution/service.
  • Maximize Cline’s stellar reputation for category-leading Zinfandels to drive distribution of our newer Sonoma-based varietals including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
  • Assist in expanding our new multi-varietal, multi-price point affordable luxury tiers including Cline’s new Sonoma AVA wines from Alexander Valley, Dry Creek, Sonoma Coast and Carneros.
  • Identify market trends and present custom-tailored programs to Regional / National Chain Buyers and Distributor Chain Account Managers.
  • Conduct deep analytics and demonstrate competence with multiple data sources including Nielsen/IRI, POS data, Digital Marketing, etc.
  • Utilize sales tools (KARMA, VIP, Nielsen, Retail Link, etc.) to grow existing business, identify new opportunities, make placements and track key initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with Distributor Chain Account Managers, Sales Representatives & Managers, motivating distributor sales teams and capturing Cline’s fair share in the channel.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with authorized assortments, planners and promotions developed by the various chain headquarters and recommend corrective action to the Regional and/or Division Manager.
  • Work closely with Regional and/or Division Managers on relevant shelf position trends, display and cold box presence, as well as Cline’s retail pricing standards.
  • Work with other managers and regions to provide support as needed.

  • Bachelor's Degree required with 5+ years experience representing a wine company, beverage alcohol brand and/or leading distributor within the channel. Top candidates will possess significant existing headquarters call relationships with Mid-West regional/National off-premise chain buyers.
  • Candidates must be highly detail-oriented with a working knowledge of Cline’s competitive set, market pricing and programming approaches with a track record of proven success across the territory.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required with demonstrated abilities in the creation of presentations, promotions, sell sheets and targeted, detailed correspondence.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge and enjoyment of wine and wine culture, varietals, appellations and food pairings is preferred.
  • Desire & ability to travel up to 50% of the time across the territory.
  • Able to comfortably lift and move wine averaging 40 pounds per case.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance, and be able to successfully pass the company’s pre-employment background screening process.

This is a salaried full-time position, with a competitive compensation package that will include an annual bonus opportunity, automobile allowance, company phone and technology plan, matching 401k program upon qualification, and eligibility for company health and wellness benefits upon qualification.
