The Chef position will ensure the proper running of the kitchen and food program. This includes maintaining inventory levels, cleanliness, and safety of food products and kitchen; training of kitchen staff for safe handling. Close collaboration with Kitchen Coordinator and management team will be required to run the program efficiently.

  • Uphold company standard for customer service as it relates to food program.
  • Responsible for upkeep of cleanliness of kitchen and sets standards for safe service.
  • Responsible for inventory of kitchen items and supplies, including monitoring of expiration dates for food products.
  • Responsible for routine upkeep of kitchen equipment. Reports issues and schedules maintenance promptly as needed.
  • Oversee ordering, receipt, storage of food product in collaborations with Tasting Room Managers, based on reservations and expected visitation.
  • Ensure quality and cost standards are consistently maintained.
  • Responsible for assembly of seasonal food options for Cline Family Cellars and Jacuzzi Family Vineyards. Prepare daily pre-lists to avoid running out of product.
  • Schedule additional kitchen help in collaboration with Housekeeping Manager and Tasting Room Managers.
  • Train, oversee and set standard for any kitchen help to maximize productivity & ensure safety procedures are maintained at all times.
  • Assist in training and supervision of kitchen staff
  • Assists with recipe development and creation.
  • Assists with development of seasonal food and wine pairing.
  • Responsible for keeping all costs within designated budgets.
  • Additional duties and special projects as requested by management.

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in the field with proven track record of service excellence.
  • Knowledge of wines, winemaking and food & wine pairing is essential.
  • Knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling practices. ServeSafe/Food Handler certificate required (Manager Level).
  • High level of quality and consistency in food preparation and presentation, with attention to detail.
  • Strong work ethics, professional and positive can-do attitude.
  • Great communications skills & genuine team player.
  • Hard worker, able to shift priorities quickly & remain calm under pressure.
  • Previous experience as chef in a winery a plus.
  • Experience with winery events a plus.

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills?
  • Ability to work independently and solely in the kitchen
  • Ability to describe the wines, olive oil and vinegars, along with our winemaking techniques, the winery and its family history. Training will be provided.
  • Position requires to operate food preparation appliances and machinery, tolerate exposure to changes in temperature, and be able perform daily repetitive hand movements as it pertains to food preparation.
  • Must be flexible with shift and schedule availability to include weekends and holidays.
  • Punctuality and timekeeping.
  • Candidate must be organized, flexible and open to suggestion from supervisors, peers and customers.
  • Must be able to handle high-volume/fast pace rushes during peak hours.

Physical Demands
  • Continuous standing. Frequent walking, standing in one place.
  • Frequent bending, twisting and reaching above and below shoulder level.
  • Occasional kneeling, crawling and climbing may be required.
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 20 pounds frequently and occasionally lift or carry 21-50 pounds.
  • Ability to push or pull up to 20 pounds frequently and occasionally push or pull 21-50 pounds.

Pay Range: $30 - $35/hour (Depends on Experience)
