SUMMARY
The primary duties of the Tasting Room Manager are to implement policies and programs set by the General Manager; train, supervise and motivate the Tasting Room team; ensure a memorable experience for all visitors; properly maintain tasting room floor in both appearance, presentation, purchase retail items and stock supply.  Responsibilities also include resolving customer complaints, returns, and conduct olive oil tastings when needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sales & Customer Service
  • Lead, develop and train the Tasting Room Sales team to achieve daily sales and budgeted goals and to build increased customer loyalty.
  • Oversee Tasting Room staff to ensure they are properly trained on all procedures, including operating cash register and credit card machine, balancing registers, maintaining proper inventory control, signing up olive oil club members and collecting customer contact information at the point of sale.
  • Ensure that all Tasting Room staff follows responsible hospitality standards at all times. Ensure that all visitors are greeted immediately when they enter the Tasting Room and provided with experiences that build brand loyalty.
  • Educate visitors about extra virgin olive oil, and pair EVOO with balsamic vinegars.
  • Maintain accurate tasting menu and other printed materials. Communicate all updated information to the Tasting Room Team.
  • Answer phones, book reservations using Tock reservations system.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the Tasting Room and outside venues.
  • Assist in the coordination of Tasting Room events, Club Parties, etc. 
  • May be requested to attend special events and tastings outside The Olive Press.
  • Fully support The Olive Press policies and procedures.
  • Fully support The Olive Press commitment to the established Safety practices and policies
Management/Leadership
  • Nurture an atmosphere of teamwork and enthusiastic employee relations among the Tasting Room staff.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, the ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information and/or situations and the ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
  • Strong leadership qualities with both customers and employees, promoting excellence in team and individual growth.
  • Responsible for hiring, scheduling, orientation, training, supervision, counseling and evaluation of Tasting Room Staff. Works with General Manager with escalated disciplinary actions and termination of staff.
  • Lead daily staff meetings before Tasting Room opens to go over the daily schedule and discuss pertinent information.
  • Maintain Weekly one-on-one meetings and management meetings.
  • Coordinate Tasting Room lunch breaks to ensure they are taken at the appropriate times in compliance with State law.
  • Process payroll, PTO/Sick requests for Tasting Room Hosts.
  • Carry out duties associated with opening and closing of the Tasting Room and make sure all regular full- time and regular part-time staff are properly trained on the opening and closing procedures.
  • Account for petty cash.          
  • Monitor all retail items and supply inventory and order and research new item to order when needed.
  • Help execute weekly physical inventory for all retail items and supplies.
  • Special projects and other responsibilities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5 Years retail experience with 2-3 years of Supervisory experience.
  • Previous background must include customer service and sales.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and experience with POS systems.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays and occasional evenings.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

REQUIREMENTS:
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
  • Knowledge of NAV, ShipCompliant, b-loyal, Korona, ADP preferred.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with good presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage constantly changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • CA Food Handlers Certification required.
Physical Demands
  • Occasional sitting.
  • Frequent standing, and continuous walking on level and uneven surfaces.
  • Frequent bending and twisting. Frequent Kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • Infrequent climbing.
  • Frequent reaching above and below shoulder.
  • Using a step ladder to frequently reach above and below shoulders to stock shelves.
  • Ability to frequently lift/carry 0-50 pounds and occasionally lift/carry over 50 pounds.
  • Ability to lift 12/250 ml and 12/500 ml boxes to stock inventory.
  • Ability to carry retail items in bins that may be heavy and bulky.
  • Ability to occasionally push/pull up to 10 pounds; frequently push/pull 11-20 pounds; occasionally push/pull 21-50 pounds; and infrequently push/pull over 50 pounds.
  • Ability to push and pull cart with product and retail items.

Pay Range: $30.00/hour (Depends on Experience)
