Experienced Financial Controller required: Legacy Dodge Wetaskiwin

Due to a recent opening we are currently seeking an experienced accounting professional to serve in a leadership role and provide oversight to the accounting and administrative functions of a dealership within our eight dealership Automotive Group. The role is based in Wetaskiwin, Alberta and represents an ideal fit for someone who enjoys a balance of rolling up their sleeves to get the job done in tandem with honing their management skills to bring out the best in others.

The Job: The ideal candidate will have previous Controller, Senior Financial Management or Public Accounting experience and the demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate financial activities in a range of settings:

  • Month-end close process and preparation of dealer financial statements
  • Management reporting
  • Payroll activities including semi-monthly payroll processing, employee documentation management, payroll inquiries and fulfillment of statutory requirements
  • Cash management
  • Vehicle transaction accounting
  • Employee benefit program administration
  • Preparation of year end materials for external accountants
  • Day-to-day supervision of accounting and administrative staff
  • Support  software implementation projects
  • Ensure compliance with company and manufacturer policies, directives and procedures.
  • Corporate accounting, treasury and administrative management.
  • Manage special projects at the direction of the Chief Financial Officer and / or Dealership General Managers
  • Other related duties as assigned by Senior Management.

The Qualifications recommended/required:

  • University Diploma
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience
  • Accounting system expertise required; knowledge of related in-house dealership computer systems (PBS, CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds) a significant asset
  • Understanding of key accounting principles and internal control practices.
  • Highly Proficient with Word and Excel programs
  • Results driven with a customer focus
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work
