Lotus Behavioral Health is searching for an eager, energetic, and knowledgeable Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for a new Adolescent and Family substance use disorder/addiction and co-occurring mental health treatment facility in Winter Springs, Florida.  The individual will support and guide the continued improvement and operations of a quality, compliant, clinically sound, holistic residential substance use treatment environment.  Priorities include provision of best practices, treatment modalities, metrics design, trauma sensitive approach, family involvement and successful transitions following recovery.

This role will report to Medical Director

Residential and Intensive Outpatient Psychiatric Services
  • Responsible for providing psychiatric services to clients in a variety of clinical settings during scheduled hours. Scope of services includes Residential and Outpatient psychiatric evaluations and medication management services.  Primarily working in Lotus Behavioral Health’s residential facility.
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat adolescents experiencing symptoms of a behavioral health disorders.
  • Prescribe, recommend, or discontinue drugs and treatments to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders in accordance with the Collaborating Physicians
  • Collaborate with counselors, social workers, or other treatment team members to coordinate client care.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate completion of medical records, including assessment, treatment plan, progress notes, outcome measures, and billing entries.
  • Counsel clients during appointments, as necessary.
  • Design/participate in the development of individualized treatment plans, incorporating best and leading practices into treatment interventions.
  • Examine or order laboratory or diagnostic tests for clients to provide information on general physical condition and mental disorders.
  • Collaborate with guardians, relatives, and significant others on client’s conditions and treatment when clinically appropriate.
  • Prepare and submit assessments, progress notes, reports, and summaries to entities/agencies (funders, insurance companies, etc.) as required.
  • Respond to client emergencies
  • Responsible for making independent decisions based on protocols developed utilizing national guidelines for treatment interventions.
  • Continually seek to improve and promote quality.
  • Provides teaching and education to clinical staff, if requested.
  • Help to evaluate agency systems and programs to ensure health and safety of consumers; identify opportunities for improving outcomes in clinical effectiveness, clinical practice, services operations, and standards
  • Aid in Development, implementation, and monitoring of integrated medical programs
  • Support medical initiatives aimed at maximizing the efficiency of operations, improving patient service, and enhancing quality and safety outcomes
  • Aid in development of a competency-based medical training program for clinical, medial, and behavioral health staff
  • Hands on service delivery when needed

Coordination and Communication
  • Communicate internally and externally for the purposes of Psychiatric and Medical Scope
  • Aid in coordination of care within multidisciplinary teams of Lotus Behavioral Health
  • Communicate and coordinate treatments, labs, prescriptions, medical history, past treatment documentation, and other medical documentation with outside providers and vendors.
  • Interface with and support other Lotus Behavioral Health Services

Professional Development
  • Complete and maintain compliance with required trainings and education required for the position
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities to enhance professional and job-related skills
  • Attend community education events/seminars to continue developing expertise in the field and improve important professional relationships, when applicable
  • Maintain all licensure and certifications, per position requirements
  • Participate in appropriate team and/or administrative meetings, assigned committees, in services, and other continuing education/training
 

Requirements, Skills and Qualifications:
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment when making decisions
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with clinical staff and patients
  • Detailed knowledge of policies and regulations in the medical field
  • Ability to delegate and supervise tasks as required
  • Hands-on skills in dealing with EMR

Education and Experience:
  • Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Nursing with focus on Psychiatric nursing
  • Graduation from a state-certified advance practice program specializing in psychiatry/mental health
  • At least 1-2 years providing direct client care to persons receiving treatment for psychiatric disorders
  • Ability to work with youth/child populations
  • Must have a valid DEA number and unrestricted DEA license in Florida
  • A state-issued Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) in Florida
  • Registration with the state Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP)
  • No suspension/exclusion/debarment from participation in federal health care programs (e.g. Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP)
  • Maintain credentials and licensure with all major insurance companies and licensing boards with the assistance of Provident credentialing staff.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to move throughout the building as well as sit or remain stationary for extended periods of time
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to talk or hear, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste, or smell.
  • Ability to move/lift 25 pounds
