As part of an interdisciplinary team, the Clinician will provide strong clinical and therapeutic services that are consumer-driven and meet or exceed funder standards. This position is responsible for maintaining the highest quality provision of direct individual and group therapeutic services at SOLAR while fostering teamwork among staff and across the other agencies we work with.
  1. Provide weekly individual and group counseling services (at least 2 per week) based on the needs of the SOLAR program participants
  2. Complete DHS approved Mental Health Assessment with all participants within two business days of entry into the program; perform annual assessments if applicable
  3. Use Language Line when needed to provide clinical services to those who speak other languages than English
  4. In collaboration with participants and the SOLAR team, evaluate the needs of participants and assist advocates in developing treatment/service plans accordingly
  5. Develop effective, trusting relationships with participants, with a focus on facilitating independence, empowerment, and improved physical and mental health
  6. Assist advocates in involving participants in daily activities and scheduled appointments,   budgeting, facilitating socialization, health and housing maintenance, community integration, and achieving life recovery   
  7. Maintain complete, accurate, and current mental health participant records in electronic databases and participant charts as required by funding sources and DHS standard
  8. Provide mental health case updates as requested by supervisor and in SOLAR team meetings 
  9. Ensure that mental health services are reflective of the agency’s treatment model, which emphasizes customer choice, harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and psycho-social rehabilitation
  10. Be available after hours and on weekends to support staff and participants with mental health crises over the phone or in-person if needed
  11. Maintain open communication with direct supervisor, individual and group supervisor(s)
  12. Cooperatively and cohesively work with other parties involved in the participants' case
  13. Participate in bi-weekly staff meetings, weekly individual and group supervision
  14. Collaborate in the development and provision of clinical pieces of training for SOLAR staff
  15. Assist in providing clinical information and support to other staff regarding participants behavior/diagnosis
  16. Adhere to the National Association of Social Workers Code of ethics    

  1. MSW, MFT, or PCC; hours may be available for this position for unlicensed candidates
  2. Registered and in good standing with the Board of Behavioral Sciences
  3. Outstanding clinical and strong team-building skills
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and database applications
  5. Detail-oriented with excellent time management, organizational, written, verbal, interpersonal, and computer skills
  6. Able to learn quickly and work effectively with a wide range of constituencies and with minimal supervision
  7. Valid CA Driver’s license, reliable car, auto insurance, and an acceptable driving record
  8. Able to obtain and maintain CPR/1st Aid certification
