Role Summary

Become one of the authors of our story.  Join our team as Area Director of Marketing, a new role at Auberge, for an individual who is excited by the opportunity to lead the marketing efforts for four Auberge Resorts Collection hotels, which focus selling to the high-end luxury consumer: Mayflower Inn & Spa, Vanderbilt, White Barn Inn and Malliouhana.  The role will be integral to the success of these properties in elevating their marketing capabilities, driving greater occupancy and higher average daily rates (ADRs), and increasing ancillary revenues in food & beverage, spa, and other activities.

This role will oversee the marketing efforts for the following four locations:

Mayflower Inn & Spa is a 35-room luxury country retreat, which hosts an award-winning spa and two signature dining destinations, located in Washington, Connecticut. Only a two-hour drive from New York City, the property defines New England elegance and is renowned as one of northeast America’s most distinguished luxury hideaways. Built as the Ridge School in 1894, the historic main house on 26 acres first welcomed guests as the Mayflower Inn in 1920. The inn was later extensively renovated and enhanced in the 1990s, when 30 acres of woodland and a 20,000-square-foot destination spa were added. In October 2018, the Mayflower was acquired by Auberge Resorts Collection, a unique portfolio of the world’s best-loved boutique luxury hotels and resorts.

Vanderbilt, originally built in 1909 by Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt, a scion of the Vanderbilt family, the property is a vintage Newport mansion meticulously restored to its former glory, just minutes from the charming waterfront. The property features elegant fireplaces and museum-quality artwork throughout this downtown mansion.  Food and beverage offerings include The Gwynne restaurant, The Knot Bar, the Conservatory, the Garden at the Gwynne, on-site catering for banquets, and in the summer, evening drinks along our popular Roof Deck with sweeping views of Newport Harbor.

White Barn Inn, a beloved local landmark for over 150 years, White Barn Inn is synonymous with warm New England hospitality, rustic charm, and uncompromising attention to detail. Constructed in the 1860s, White Barn Inn’s original farmhouse has offered superb hospitality since the days of the Civil War. It has operated as the White Barn Inn since 1973. In October 2018, White Barn Inn was acquired by Auberge Resorts Collection, a unique portfolio of the world’s best-loved boutique luxury hotels and resorts. Just a 90-minute drive north of Boston, the inviting property is renowned as one of the country’s most distinctive getaways and features several room types, a pool, massage and spa treatments, gardens and a prime location near the sandy beaches and classic coastal town of Kennebunkport, Maine.

Malliouhana, on the Caribbean island of Anguilla, has been part of Auberge Resorts Collection since November 2014. The legendary winter destination for the jet-set crowd is known for its iconic location high over Meads Bay and Turtle Cove and sweeping 360-degree views of the Caribbean. 63 rooms and suites blend the warmth and gracious hospitality of the Caribbean with stylish spaces that create a sense of togetherness. An all new toes-in-the-sand restaurant, Leon’s at Meads Bay, joins Celeste and Bar Soleil overlooking white-sand beaches, along with the iconic two-tiered infinity swimming pool and new Spa at Malliouhana. The resort also offers two over-the-top Villas, the five-bedroom Kishti on Meads Villa West and the six-bedroom Kishti on Meads Villa East featuring personalized service right on the sands of Meads Bay, including a private villa manager, butler, chef and VIP resort access.

Core Responsibilities
The key responsibilities for this position are:
  • Develop the marketing strategies for the hotels in the Area cluster
  • Overall responsibility for public relations, social media, digital, ecommerce, customer relationship marketing, marketing and collateral for these properties
  • Serve in the lead role in writing annual sales & marketing plans along with input from area sales managers, director of revenue management and the experience curator
  • Ensure that communications align with property positioning
  • Develop strategies, identify and implement relevant partnerships, sponsorships and unique one-of-a-kind experiences working with the operations team and the guest experience curator
  • Be aware of competitor offerings in the local market
  • Be an ambassador of Auberge, particularly the four locations supported; reach out in the community to foster relationships, market the hotel
  • Attend guest and official functions as a representative of the executive team
  • Be aware of the best external competitor offerings in the local market
  • Provide input to the overall marketing budgets

Required Qualifications
  • 10-15+ years in marketing roles including experience in the luxury category
  • Demonstrated success in building brands and delivering results (ideally smaller independent brand)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree – Business/Marketing
