Role Summary

The Lead Therapist reports directly to the Spa Director and is responsible for demonstrating leadership throughout the spa and related areas to maximize guest satisfaction.  Directing, instructing, evaluating, educating, and administering massage and body treatments.

Core Responsibilities

Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of everything that needs to be done  Within the Auberge family, our leaders our people always find new ways to look after the business, their guests, and their team-mates. Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are:

  • Ensure compliance by all spa providers with the company and departmental rules, policies, and procedures. 

  • Train new service providers in accordance with the spa operations manual.

  • Oversee the Therapist department, ensuring protocols and standards are being met on a daily basis.

  • Ability to supervise subordinate staff, including, but not limited to, assignment of duties, evaluating service and taking disciplinary action when necessary.

  • Maintain a comfortable work environment for all colleagues.

  • Create and Update protocols as needed.

  • Maintain complete knowledge of Forbes Standards and complete training as needed.

  • Establish training days for new providers and have new hires trained within 120 days from the date of hire.

  • Oversee and monitor the cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas to maintain a safe and clean work environment.

  • Assist with the interviewing of potential candidates.  

  • Responsible for maintaining efficiency and Cost control of product inventory, overseeing product usages, back bar, including linens and towels.

  • Perform other related duties as necessary.

  • Regularly attend, participate in and support staff meetings and training.

  • Maintain knowledge of all Spa treatments

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years' experience in a luxury spa environment

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, according to department needs

  • Massage Therapist License

Personal Skills:

  • Great communication skills

  • Confidence and ability to perform under pressure

Essential job Functions:

  • Ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 6 hours in length. 

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.

  • Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. occasionally.

  • Manual dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, and climbing, required.
