Supervise, train and inspect the performance of room attendants, ensuring that all procedures are completed to the resort’s standards.  Assist where necessary to ensure optimum service to guests.

  1. Verify room status on AM report, report discrepancies; prioritize and update status of check-out rooms.
  2. Ensure that assigned staff has reported to work; document any late or absent associates.
  3. Coordinate breaks for assigned staff.
  4. Prepare and distribute assignment sheets to assigned staff and review priorities.
  5. Assign designated guest room keys to assigned staff.  Maintain accurate record of such to ensure security of keys.
  6. Communicate additions or changes to the assignment sheets as they arise throughout the shift. Identify situations which compromise the department’s standards and delegate these tasks.
  7. Check room attendant’s baskets for proper supplies, neatness and cleanliness,
  8. Inspect rooms cleaned by assigned room attendants.  Ensure rooms are cleaned to the resort specifications.  Follow up on corrections; directly contact room attendant and relay any deficiencies to be corrected.
  9. Update room status after approving cleanliness and condition in accordance with departmental standards.
  10. Check vacant rooms, verify and update status of discrepant rooms throughout the shift.
  11. Check DND rooms in accordance with resort procedures and verify status.
  12. “Mark” dirty sheets of randomly selected assigned rooms and follow up to ensure room attendants have changed bed sheets.  Counsel room attendants on any discrepancies.
  13. Inspect public areas/bathrooms, fitness center, pool area, offices and service areas after being cleaned by public area attendant, using designated checklists.  Ensure that cleanliness and condition of each area meets designated standards.  Directly contact respective personnel and relay any deficiencies to be corrected.
  14. Complete work orders for maintenance repairs and submit to Maintenance Department. Contact Engineering directly for urgent repairs.
  15. Accommodate guest requests for Housekeeping items or additional supplies expediently and courteously.  Follow up on delivery and return of all such items.
  16. Conduct training of staff as assigned.
  17. Monitor and handle guest complaints by following procedures and ensuring guest satisfaction.
  18. Provide feedback on staff performances to Manager. Report disciplinary problems to Manager and participate in the counseling of associates.
  19. Respond to all radio calls promptly.
  20. Document pertinent information in department log book.
  21. Complete all paperwork and closing duties before leaving. Review status of assignments and any follow-up action with PM Supervisor.

Perform other duties as directed, developed or assigned.

  1. Experience as Room Attendant.
  2. Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, requirements and use of equipment.
  3. Knowledge of proper chemical handling.
  4. Ability to communicate in English with guests, other management and coworkers to their understanding.
  5. Ability to provide legible written communication.
  6. Combination of education and experience

  3. Ability to motivate assigned staff and maintain a cohesive team.
  4. Ability to ascertain staff training needs and provide such training.

  6. Ability to maintain confidentiality of resort guests and pertinent resort information.
  7. Ability to ensure security of guest room access and property.
  8. Ability to work with minimal supervision.

  1. Frequent or occasional need to perform the following physical activities: reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing.   Have frequent need to perform standing and walking activities related to inspecting property. 
  2. Constant need to perform the following physical activities: grasping, turning, finger dexterity.
  3. Occasional need to stand for long periods of time or sit if working the PBX station. 
  4. Lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs. frequently and 25 lbs. occasionally.
  5. Vision requirements: constant need to view small print.  Frequent need to see small details and things clearly beyond arms’ reach.
  6. Hearing requirements: constant need to speak on telephone and/or two-way radio, respond to general public and converse with staff. Ability to hear fire alarms and emergency equipment.
