MGA Research is seeking a full time entry-level technician at the Burlington, Wisconsin location.

COMPANY BACKGROUND:
MGA Research is known as one of the leading automotive testing companies worldwide. This consists of anything from testing individual components within a vehicle to full scale vehicle crash tests. In addition to the automotive industry, MGA conducts product safety testing in the aerospace and battery industries as well as equipment fabrication.

In order to conduct these tests MGA Research uses an array of test devices for data collection purposes. Of these, the ATD’s (Anthropomorphic Test Device), or Crash Test dummies, are the most important. MGA’s internal ATD calibration group is expanding and looking to add motivated team members that are excited about being part of a world-class laboratory. With the addition of an 8,000 square foot facility dedicated to Calibration and Metrology, many opportunities are available to enter a rapidly growing team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Use defined procedures to disassemble, inspect, verify, and reassemble Anthropomorphic Test Devices (ATDs), Crash Test Dummies
  • Use defined procedures to perform calibrations on various instruments including accelerometers, load cells, and potentiometers
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair ATDs and instrumentation
  • Prepare ATDs for day to day testing including mechanical assembly inspection, cleaning, instrumentation inspection, and delivery to test site
  • Troubleshoot ATD problems in crash tests
  • Work with Crash Safety Team and Project Engineers to supply customer requests
  • Perform laboratory functions as needed including ATD qualification test setup, execution, and troubleshooting

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school Diploma or Equivalent
  • Good Driving record and valid Driver’s License
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Quality and safety mindset
  • Desire to learn
  • Comfortable using hand tools
  • Comfortable working with computers

OTHER DESIRED SKILLS:
  • Associated Degree in Mechanical Technology, Biomedical Technology, or Electronics Technology from a technical school or any combination of education experience related to mechanical systems, biology, or electronics
  • Ability to disassemble and reassemble mechanical systems
  • Ability to inspect and evaluate the functionality of mechanical systems
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and take initiative when required
  • Ability to think critically and independently
  • Ability to learn new material quickly and effectively
  • Strong time-management skills
  • Desire to work in a hands-on environment
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical documentation and follow written procedure
  • Experience with troubleshooting basic DC circuits and wiring harnesses, soldering skills are a plus
