Project Overview:
Pennsylvania Chemicals is a world-scale facility that will use ethane to produce 1.6 million tonnes of polyethylene per year. The project will involve up to 6,000 workers during its construction and is expected to employ 600 permanent employees when completed. The ethylene / polyethylene complex will be located in the Ohio River Valley north of Pittsburgh. It comprises an ethane cracker and three polyethylene units, plus OSBL including a gas-fired combined cycle cogeneration unit and a large storage-in-transit rail yard.



Position Overview:
Inspector to be individually qualified/ certified by an organization recognized as being an authority in the protective coatings industry- SSPC or NACE. Ideally, certified to SSPC PCI Level 2 or NACE CIP Level 2.
 
The coatings inspector’s responsibilities include:
  • Enforcing requirements contained in project coatings specifications
  • Inspection of surface preparation and coating activities – see below
  • Keeping records of inspection activities for submission to document control
  • Coordinating with the responsible field engineer in case any clarification or deviation is needed from the specification
      Inspection activities include, but are not limited to:
  • Verification of dew point and temperature conditions prior to surface preparation and coating application
  • Verification of cleanliness of abrasive materials and compressed air
  • Verification of cleanliness and surface profile depth following surface preparation,
  • Verification of dry film thickness and visual inspection for defects, following the application and curing of each coat
  • 100% holiday testing of completed coating system
