We are seeking an energetic, compassionate and creative Activities Director to join our leadership team. Position Summary
The Activities Director will plan and coordinate meaningful programs that encourage socialization, creativity, physical activity, and emotional well-being. This position is both hands-on and strategic—designing activities, engaging residents, and collaborating with staff, families, and the community. The right candidate will be patient, professional, creative, and experienced with seniors; management and leadership experience is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
  • Create and display a monthly Calendar of Events based on resident interests.
  • Provide daily activities programming, including evenings and weekends.
  • Develop a well-rounded activities plan that includes: Group social programs, Indoor and outdoor events, outings away from the community, Creative activities (arts, crafts, music, drama, educational programs), Fitness and wellness programs, and Opportunities for family and community involvement
  • Serve as a member of the facility management team and assist the Administrator with various leadership duties.
  • Operate the activities department within established budgetary guidelines.
  • Assist with marketing responsibilities and represent the community through networking and outreach.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers.
  • Foster family and community support for the program (e.g., newsletters, special events, community partnerships).
  • Act as a role model to staff in communication, engagement, and behavior management strategies.
  • Participate in resident and family care conferences, and new resident interviews to capture history and preferences.
  • Coordinate with outside groups and organizations to arrange special programs.
  • Maintain a current social history and profile for each resident.
Qualifications
  • Energy and enthusiasm is a must!
  • Experience in senior living, long-term care, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Creativity for planning meaningful and engaging events.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Compassion and respect for older adults and their families.
