The McClure Company is searching for an Estimator in Harrisburg, PA that will report to the Chief Estimator. The Estimator is responsible for evaluating project specifications and drawings, ensuring we know everything required to determine the cost of a project and win the award.

Essential Functions:
  • Review plans, specifications, drawings to determine the cost of the project
  • Analyze time, material and manpower requirements for each project
  • Perform material takeoffs and develop a written estimate of cost to perform the work according to the specifications
  • Sheet metal and piping experience preferred, or be willing to be cross trained in both
  • Provide the Manager of Estimating with a detailed cost estimate, corresponding proposal letter and bid form breakout and take over ownership of the project
  • Interface with customers, vendors and subcontractors to determine the cost of the project. Gather information to determine subcontractor and vendor suitability and aggressively gain the best pricing
  • Work with senior estimator in developing project estimates and applying “mark up” and “labor factors”
  • Visit customer field locations as required to ascertain project conditions
  • Attend pre and post bid meetings as required and be able to effectively present information to clients to sell our projects
  • Select pool of potential subcontractors and equipment vendors to solicit their proposals
  • Analyze special safety and code requirements on all projects
  • Work as part of an integrated team in acquiring projects
  • Properly turns over bid documents to Project Management in a timely manner

  • Other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor

Experience, technical skills & attributes required:
  • At least 2 years experience in a similar Mechanical Estimator position
  • A two-year degree from a community college or trade school or Bachelor’s degree from a four-year College/University
  • Self-motivated, possess strong communication and computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Estimation or Quickpen)

Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with overtime as needed
