Assistant Project Accountant Essential Functions:
- Work closely with Sr. Project accountant to understand the McClure project accounting process and procedures.
- Assist in processing billing, change order, and other accounting requirements for individual projects.
- Monitor project costs and transfer costs (including labor, tools, etc.) between projects.
- Prepare monthly customer invoices, change order pricing
- Attend Project Manager meetings as they relate to the accounting function to ensure that processes and procedures are being followed and documented.
- Maintain current contract value and revise estimated costs as necessary.
- Gain an understanding of the subcontracts, amendments, insurance and other requirements
- Input invoices into Purchase Order Status and resolve any billing or contract discrepancies.
- Learn how to set-up and maintain labor estimates in labor tracking system.
- Work as a team with Project Accountants and Project Managers to review job progress and produce forecasts during monthly Project Status Reviews.
- Work with project accountants regarding progress payments, final retain age and job close out.
- Assist with journal entries, month end close process and balance sheet and income statement financial analysis as requested.
- Other related duties may be assigned to meet business needs, including assisting with year-end audit requests and schedules.
Assistant Project Accountant Experience, technical skills & attributes required:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related technical field.
- 2 to 4 years of construction accounting experience.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to work well independently as well as be part of a team.
- Good problem finding and solving skills.
- Flexibility and a willingness to learn.
