Under limited supervision, the On-Site Lead Buyer manages key supply functions and personnel that includes but are not limited to procurement, supplier/customer relationships, cost savings initiatives and inventory management.
  • Supervise On-Site employees and/or contractors
  • Manage procurement for clients entire MRO budget, core and noncore product
  • Transact orders in both ECOS and customers ERP
  • Responds to customer inquiries, provides quotes and takes customer orders via telephone, fax, email, electronic methods
  • Continually looking for ways to move noncore business to core
  • Influences Motion’s Gross Profit through negotiating the sale price and purchase price, within certain parameters
  • Expedites backorders
  • Minimizes Branch freight cost by determining the most cost effective method to fulfill customer orders
  • Partners with Account Representatives to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Attends training sessions regularly to continue professional growth and development
  • Participate in customer reviews as requested, bringing any significant activity/issues/opportunities to reduce total cost to the team’s attention.
  • Attend maintenance meetings to understand plant objectives, communicate sourcing issues/current parts delivery updates and discuss other areas of opportunity where MOTION team could assist in improving plant productivity.
  • Set up continuity of service for customers when away from office and communicate time periods of absence
  • Establish and maintain superior relationships with client contacts, MOTION team and supplier representatives
  • Follow all MOTION/Client ISO and safety requirements
  • Work with Technical Sales Representative (“TSR”) and technical resources to provide product and/or technical assistance to customers
  • Look for patterns/opportunities in customer contacts or orders to create value for customer
  • Work with TSR to document and report savings through technical solutions provided
  • Ability to foster teamwork, collaboration and manage conflict effectively.
  • Ability to work cross functionally and with personnel at all levels.
  • General knowledge of industrial products and supply chain systems.
  • Ability to self-manage, set priorities, demonstrate follow-through, and effectively communicate at all levels of an organization.
  • Typically requires a high school diploma or GED and five (5) or more years of relevant experience.
