Motion Canada, a leading distributor of industrial MRO (maintenance, repair and operation replacement) parts, and the largest Bearing and Power Transmission Company in NA is currently recruiting for a Conventional Machinist for our service shop in Montreal.  Working in the repair and machine shop, the candidate will be primarily involved in the repairing and maintenance of valves, pumps, cylinders and gearboxes. This exciting and challenging position will report into the Shop Foreman.

Responsibilities:
  • General turning of small to large bar stock for the manufacturing of hydraulic cylinder components
  • General machining of mechanical components including boring, broaching and keyway cutting
  • Machining of hardened materials
  • Threading
  • Ability to measure (and machine) as per sample components
  • Maintain tight tolerances as per requirements
  • Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and blueprints
  • Verify all measurements using standard instruments
  • Miscellaneous shop duties
Qualifications:
  • Machinist trade certification (or equivalent) preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years industry experience
  • Must be experienced in the use of Manual Lathes, milling machines, horizontal boring mills, and general shop equipment
  • Advanced manual machining skills
  • Knowledge of safety practices and safety consciousness
  • Ability to follow instructions and work without close supervision
  • Willing to put in overtime hours as required
  • Reliable, organized, punctual
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Outlook
  • Team player with solid troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to assess and estimate times for rebuild work
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
