The Regional Nurse Consultant provides support to assigned centers to ensure compliance with clinical standards and all state and federal regulations.  This position will service the Saginaw area.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the implementation and monitoring of clinical policies and procedures.
  • Assess and ensure facility compliance with policies, procedures, and all State and Federal regulations.
  • Teach, mentor, and train all nursing leaders at the facility level.
  • Ensure that the facility is survey ready, and provide support throughout the survey process, including assistance with preparation for survey, writing plans of correction, IDR, developing action plans, and monitoring for compliance.
  • Provide initial training of ADL’s.
  • Conduct peer to peer reviews at the centers.
  • Initiate and facilitate cross training for MDS back-up positions.
  • Attend facility month-end closing for MDS.
  • Attend and monitor facility QA programs.
  • Follow up on QM reports.
  • Monitor action plans to achieve and maintain 5-star status.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • A current license to practice as an RN  in Michigan; current CPR certification.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or higher.
  • 5 years of related experience in a skilled nursing or long term care environment
  • A high level of analytical abilities in order to prepare personalized care plans, implement effective nursing care and rehabilitation, and develop solutions to difficult problems concerning well-being.

  • Working knowledge of State and Federal regulations, the survey process, and MDS.
  • Proven ability to accurately assess, troubleshoot, and problem solve to meet the clinical needs of a skilled nursing facility.
  • Sound judgement and decision making skills, with ability to take action in a timely manner and meet deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills; experience with electronic medical records.
  • Must be a team player, with strong leadership ability with demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels within an organization.
