Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Implement standards of nursing practice through the formulation of policies and procedures. 
  • Assess work performance in terms of compliance with standards of resident care. 
  • Collaborate with facility staff to coordinate efforts and resolve clinical operational problems. 
  • Investigate and document complaints. 
  • Provide consultation on infection risk assessment, prevention, and control strategies. 
  • Recommend improvements to current practices, provide input into overall clinical operations, and suggest actions designed to assist in the attainment of organizational goals. 
  • Introduce new techniques and address areas of deficiencies. 
  • Recommend and participate in educational in-service programs. 
  • Participate in the quality assurance program. 
  • Audit electronic medical records. 
  • Review 24-hour reports for appropriateness and follow-through and ensure the completion of all required reports. 
  • Instruct licensed staff regarding the skilled care process and function as a resource for clinical issues. 
  • Document facility visits and findings. 
  • Assist facilities in writing and reviewing Plans of Correction. 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Graduation from an accredited professional nursing program with an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree, or higher, and a superior level of knowledge in nursing in order to manage resident care. 
  • 5+ years of related experience, preferably in a long term care facility. 
  • Current license to practice as an RN in Michigan; current CPR certification. 
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with proven ability to communicate effectively with residents, physicians, visitors, and all facility personnel.? 
  • Good to advanced computer skills, with experience utilizing an electronic charting system. 
  • Critical thinking skills, sound judgment and decision making skills, strong organizational skills. 
  • Excellent analytical skills necessary to gather and interpret quantitative and qualitative data relevant to resident care. 
  • Ability to travel 100% between assigned facilities in Southeast Michigan.
