Camp Navarro is seeking Grounds Technicians to join our growing business for 2024. The ideal candidate has some experience working in grounds maintenance in a Resort or Hotel setting and has the skills to troubleshoot and perform routine building maintenance and grounds keeping duties. This candidate is personable and represents Camp Navarro well with guests, staff and vendors, has a passion for nature and environmental stewardship.

Purpose:  Reporting to the Facilities and Grounds Manager, the Grounds Technician is responsible for the grooming, maintaining of Camp Navarro’s visual appeal and functional maintenance of the grounds by performing regular and periodic maintenance on grounds and landscaping systems in support of the Grounds and Maintenance Department to ensure that operations run smoothly and efficiently.

  • Handles difficult situations effectively to meet Camp Navarro’s service standards
  • Maintains the physical functionality and safety of the grounds
  • Performs general groundskeeping and landscaping duties including, but not limited to trail maintenance, irrigation system maintenance, operating garden and landscaping equipment to manicure landscape and maintain safe grounds. 
  • Possesses knowledge of and skills in the safe operation of hand and power mowers, edgers, rakes, weed trimmers, pruners, saws, shovels, hoes, brooms, blowers, vacuums, hoses, pressure washers and chemical applicators
  • Possess knowledge of and skills in irrigation operations and repair
  • Possess knowledge of and skills in wildfire landscape maintenance and hazard prevention.
  • Responds to assigned Corrective and Preventative Maintenance in regards to groundskeeping and landscaping requests  
  • Uses tools safely and correctly while also maintaining clean work areas pertaining to grounds in the maintenance shop, and any other areas assigned to grounds oversight.
  • Possess knowledge of, skills in mixing and applying landscaping chemicals safely.
  • Ability to operate tractor mounted equipment
  • Ability to read, understand and apply oral and written instructions and labels
  • Perform support duties to events to include preparing outdoor areas for events to cleaning event areas and lodging of vegetation debris, including but not limited to s loading and unloading equipment, and assisting as needed during events. 
  • Ensures the security and proper care of Camp Navarro inventory such as tools, supplies, equipment used for groundskeeping and landscaping, etc.
  • Replenishes supplies in a timely and efficient manner, minimizing waste and ensuring that equipment is prepared and operational for the next shift
  • Performs work to local, state and Federal codes
  • Practices safe work habits, wears protective safety equipment and complies with MSDS and OSHA standards
  • Maintains a clean work area for both guests and staff
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures
  • Adheres to Camp Navarro appearance guidelines
  • Acts with a sense of urgency

  • Works with management to plan, schedule, and coordinate routine, deferred, and special grounds and landscape projects, as well as, the maintenance of shrubs, trees, lawns, planting areas, sprinkler systems, and area watering lines.
  • Maintains repair and preventative maintenance records in regards to the grounds as requested
  • Provides value added service to customers by doing whatever is reasonable and possible to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Communicates effectively with customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Keeps F&G Manager fully informed of all problems or matters of significance.
  • Knows all safety and emergency procedures, is aware of accident prevention policies and reporting procedures.
  • Assist on major property maintenance as needed that does not require a licensed professional.
  • Provides awareness to F&G Manager of any undesirable persons on Camp Navarro premises.
  • Attends all department meetings
  • Responds to emergency situations on short notice.
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working environment.
