Description:
The ideal individual will have 10 to 15 years of mechanical engineering experience with demonstrated capability in the design and construction of mechanical systems, such as propulsion systems, hydraulic,  structures, and general machine design.  Familiarity with finite element analysis, machining tolerances, welded structures, and hydrodynamics is also necessary.  This individual should have good understanding of engineering fundamentals and be creative in developing solutions to design problems.  

Navatek is looking for a talented professional with the following qualifications:
  • Design and construction of mechanical systems
  • Creative in developing problem solutions
  • Good knowledge of composites and advanced materials
  • Knowledge of machine design, structures, hydrodynamics
  • Experienced in finite element analysis
  • Supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of naval architecture helpful
  • Instrumentation experience as related to testing (accelerometers, strain gages, motion sensors, data acquisition)
  • 2D and 3D modeling experience required
  • Experienced in generating drawing packages for government projects
  • Experienced in working department of defense projects
  • Experienced in managing budgets and schedules
  • Good oral and writing skills
  • Familiarity with boats and testing at sea, or at tank facilities helpful
  • Secret clearance desirable


Basic Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or equivalent from an accredited college or university
    OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or equivalent from an accredited college or university and 10+ years’ experience in a Mechanical Engineering position.
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residence

This position will be located in San Diego, California. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing an employee background check and post-offer drug screen.
