JOB SUMMARY/GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 
Navatek LTD, a privately-owned defense contractor with offices in Rhode Island, Virginia, Maine and Hawaii is seeking recent graduates interested in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture to join our team in Portland, Maine, to assist in our research to support the Navy, Marine Corps, and other services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Investigate new science and technology.
  • Research and formulate theories in engineering analysis and design science.
  • Capture research in new methods and engineering software.
  • Conduct formal testing of methods and document results.
  • Collaborate with team developers and users.
  • Assist in report writing and presentations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  • Professional experience not necessary but must be able to demonstrate the willingness and ability to learn.
  • Experience with C++, a qualification bonus but not requiremenT

SKILLS/TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:
  • Proven academic record, with an emphasis on dynamics, statistics, and mathematics.
  • Comfortable with software development.  

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residence.
  • Must show proof of work eligibility in the United States.
  • Good attitude; must be a team player, but also efficient working individually.
  • Possess the interest and flexibility to be involved with interdisciplinary engineering tasks.
  • Able to demonstrate initiative and possess time management skills to meet deadlines.
 
This position will be located in Portland, ME. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing an employee background check and post-offer drug screen.
