The aluminum Production Manager shall be responsible for overseeing the entire manufacturing process and ensuring that processes are completed reliably and efficiently.  Duties include overseeing operations to manufacture aluminum vessels, marine vehicles, and small parts in accordance with drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction.  Ensuring that the weld staff is working at a consistent speed with minimal rework and following specific instructions.  Required to work within global project schedules and established budgets.

  • Planning and organizing production schedules
  • Assessing project and resource requirements
  • Estimating, negotiating and agreeing budgets and timescales with clients and managers
  • Determining quality control standards
  • Overseeing production processes
  • Material Selection
  • Organizing the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment
  • Supervising the work of welding staff
  • Proficient in assigned aluminum welding techniques using plate, tee bar, flat bar, square tube, pipe and other extrusion with minimal rework
  • Interpretation of blueprint drawings, including weld requirement symbols
  • Interface with engineers to ensure specifications are correct
  • Interface with other production personnel to interpret, clarify, bring comprehension to tasks needing to be completed
  • Responsible for boat building construction to ensure conformity with applicable Rules and Coast Guard requirements
  • All jobs should be performed cost effectively.  Resource allocation, consumable management, and equipment care will play a large role in this practice
  • Ensure that all work areas around the yard should be kept clean on a daily and a weekly basis.
  • Safe work practices should be adhered to at all times.  Safety Meetings attendance is required, and the shop should be held to OSHA standards. 

  • Must have high school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of five years experience in a managerial role
  • Minimum of five years experience with various forms of aluminum welding

  • Email viewing, composing, and sending ability preferred
  • Microsoft Office proficiency preferred
  • Boat Handling and Maintenance capabilities preferred
  • Comprehensive ability to work from plans, specifications, drawings and blueprints.  Ability to redline plans during construction is preferred
  • Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize to meet deadlines

  • Must be flexible in work hours, on call as needed
  • Verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Good attitude; must be a team player.

This position will be located in Port Townsend, Washington. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing an employee background check and post-offer drug screen.
