Navatek LLC, a privately-owned defense contractor, is seeking a Director of Engineering Operations to lead the Bangor, Maine office through a range of exciting Department of Defense research and design challenges. The candidate will have the opportunity to help lead ground-breaking research across a diverse range of applications in autonomous machinery, hybrid electric propulsion, and advanced materials.  Navatek is also active in areas of combat power and energy for ships, cyberphysical security for grid resiliency, and advanced naval prototypes.

Job Summary:
The Director of Engineering Operations will oversee the day-to-day activities of the Company’s Bangor, Maine office to ensure that the organization is managed and performing efficiently and effectively.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Participates in the hiring and training of group managers.
  • Organizes and oversees the work and schedules of group managers.
  • Conducts timely performance evaluations in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with Company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage and execute project plans and delivery commitments.
  • Serve as mentor to key development personnel, assisting in the execution of duties upon request.
  • Collaborate and work closely with senior engineering leadership in defining and executing long-term organizational strategies and roadmaps.
  • Implement innovative technologies within the Company, providing support and leadership to development departments and facilitating continuous evolution in the frontend and backend development teams.
  • Execute Company procedures, policies, and associated tools in order to develop processes that are more efficient and ensure conformity with the Company’s policies and overall objectives.
  • Communicate and explain new directives, policies, or procedures to managers and lead change management, as necessary.
  • Improve customer service and satisfaction through policy and procedural changes.

Education and Experience:
  • B.S, M.S., or Ph.D. in Engineering with preference for Electrical, Mechanical, or Naval disciplines. 
  • Extensive and diversified background with at least 10 years of related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing cross-functional teams and engineering managers, as well as demonstrated knowledge and interest in new and emerging technologies.

  • Highly organized and analytical, creative and strategic thinker, and an ability to work on multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Superior managerial and diplomacy skills.

Position Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship required.

This position will be located in Bangor, Maine. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing an employee background check and post-offer drug screen.
