JOB SUMMARY/DESCRIPTION:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Manage and maintain 3+ Linux clusters and also Linux PCs.
  • Perform server administration tasks, including security permissions and policies, research event log warnings and errors, and resource monitoring, ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly
  • Monitor datacenter health using preexisting management tools and respond to hardware issues as they arise; help build, test, and maintain new servers as needed
  • Maintain internal Linux infrastructure requirements to meet DFARS and CMMC compliance.
  • Interact with the help desk and systems administrators, external entities, and other teams to assist in troubleshooting, identify root cause, and provide technical support when needed
  • Perform routine/scheduled audits of the systems, including all backups
  • Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
  • Plan, direct and review activities of personnel involved in computer systems network design, connectivity, and implementation
  • Develop and/or maintain installation, operation, and configuration procedures and documentation
  • Install new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches and resolve software related problems.
  • Confer with company supervisors to determine resource needs, to establish project priority and to assist with the resolution of computer networking problems.
  • Implement security systems to software, hardware, and components to ensure that we meet compliance

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Some travel will be necessary and will include driving 300+ miles and/or flying

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
  • BS in Information Technology, Computer Science
  • Linux cluster experience with CentOS and Ubuntu operating systems
  • Professional certification (e.g. RHCE, LINUX+ CompTIA) is a plus
  • Proven experience as a Linux Administrator, or similar role
  • Experience with VMware virtual environment

SKILLS/TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Cloud services (Office 365, Azure, SharePoint) is a plus
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems and clusters is required
  • Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
  • Excellent communication skills
This position will be located in Honolulu, Hawaii or South Kingstown, RI. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing an employee background check and post-offer drug screen.
