THE ROLE
  • Appropriate trade or related qualification in maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical equipment or a related discipline
  • 5-10 years of experience in maintenance, within a mining, construction, or OEM environment, and or diploma from accredited Trade School
  • Able to troubleshoot and repair engine, drive train, hydraulic and electrical faults 
  • Able to use electrical diagnostic equipment for downloads and trouble shooting
  • Proficient in heating tip and cutting using oxy/acetylene torches
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Mines Regulations
  • Ability to troubleshoot inputs and outputs on PLC’s/TCM
  • Ability to identify root cause using flow meter and pressure gauges
  • Ability to build a hydraulic circuit
  • Ability to use software diagnostic tools
  • Ability to replace injectors
  • Ability to perform valve adjustments
  • Ability to troubleshoot faulty clutch packs
  • Ability to rebuild axles
  • Ability to check for wear of axle brakes, posi stop, LCB and replace as needed
  • Ability to replace load struts
  • Proficient in TIG welding
  • Knowledge to use advanced tooling such as micrometers and dial indicators
  • Ability to perform Root Cause Analysis
  • Knowledge to write JSEA
  • Able to train other Diesel Technicians
  • Competent in directing peers on maintaining safety and health regulations
  • Perform calibrations and alignments as required per manufacturer’s documentation
  • Tasked train to operate all diesel equipment, simulating normal mining activity, for fault evaluation
  • Able to generate repair notes and documentation on all jobs for fault tracking
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills and a “team-oriented” approach to the achievement of tasks
  • Demonstrated high regard for safe-working rules and procedures, with evidence of careful consideration of risk-factors in undertaking any initiative
  • Proven orientation to results with ability to maintain focus on key areas
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
  • Appropriate trade or related qualification in maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical equipment or a related discipline
  • 2-4 years of experience in maintenance, within a mining, construction, or OEM environment, and or diploma from a credited Trade School
  • Able to work unsupervised to perform general tasks as directed
  • Able to use all hand, power, and pneumatic tools
  • Able to safety use hydraulic jacks and lifts
  • Able to accurately measure using rulers, tap measures
  • Comprehensive knowledge or willingness to learn and comprehend Mines Regulations
