Function/ Production:
• Providing quick turn-around and accurate results of samples.
• Adhering to recognized sample preparation and analytical procedures.
• Accurate recording of sample progress and results.
• Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping in regard to both the general laboratory area and machinery and equipment.
• Becoming highly familiar with the conduct of gravimetric, instrumental and other analytical procedures as required by our processing. XRF familiarity a must.
• Monitoring and controlling usage of stores items.
• Minimizing wastage of materials, time and chemicals.
• Ensuring equipment is operated efficiently and not subjected to damage and abuse.
• Being fully productive during shifts.

Education and Qualifications: Essential:
• Tertiary qualification in Chemical/ XRF Laboratory Practices or similar.
• A working knowledge of Laboratory functions and practices.
• 1-3 years’ experience in Laboratory work.

Desirable:
• A two (2) year technical degree is preferred.

Required Skills, Experience and Abilities:
• Excellent technical knowledge and skills and Knowledge in relevant software.
• Understanding and commitment to NTM safety policies, procedures and standards.
•Understanding of Mill operations.
• Detail oriented and a High degree of competency in analytical procedures.
• High degree of competency in XRF analysis.
• Maintains a high degree of accuracy in performance of analysis and reporting.
• Demonstrate high regard for safe-working rules and procedures, with evidence of careful consideration of risk factors in undertaking any initiative.
• Demonstrate encouragement of similar behavior in others.
• Honesty, integrity, and an open approach to interpersonal relations at work, and Team focused.
• Understanding of and commitment to MSHA principles and Continuous Improvement principles.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and SAP
