To ensure manufacturing equipment is operating efficiently to ensure maximum production capability. Provide maintenance support for the production department and to perform scheduled preventative maintenance and work order, rebuilds, related repairs on manufacturing equipment and other equipment in the facility. Maintain a daily record of time and parts involved with assignments. Assist other maintenance personnel with repairs, projects, and work orders whenever necessary.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (other duties may be assigned as needed): 
  1. Repair and maintain Vertical Form Fill and Seal (VFFS) packaging equipment, Clamshell packaging lines, Ishida Scales and Packaging area bag and case coders. 
  2. Perform major Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities.
  3. Provide maintenance support to our facility with a focus on safety 
  4. Utilize excellent electrical skills and knowledge in electrical/electronics (PLCs, A/C and D/C motors and drives, control logic, schematics and troubleshooting)
  5. Drive a process manufacturing environment to achieve machine uptime metrics.
  6. Diagnose complex mechanical problems.
  7. Improve efficiencies and initiate continuous improvement efforts.
  8. Must be able to work with our ClariSoft program create, edit and download SKU’s to Video Jet printer in process floor.
  9. Complete Work Orders and parts lists.
  10. Oversee the completion of basic maintenance projects.
  11. Work with and Maintain in good working condition our process water treatment system (EP500) must be able maintain and calibrate ORP /PH and Free Chlorine sensors install and troubleshoot entire (EP500) system.  
  12. Set up and maintain Raytec optical sorters. 
  13. Follow all safety and GMP requirements and perform repairs as needed for safety issues and concerns. 
  14. Train operators in technical skills required to perform their duties. 
  15. Work with operators on a daily basis to reduce downtime and increase plant efficiency. 
  16. Work in cross-functional teams to maximize plant efficiencies. 
  17. Work and maintain our SmartWash system.

  1. Ability to learn and understand and troubleshoot problems using electrical wiring diagrams (schematics). 
  2. Experience reading technical drawings and schematics. Strong reading and math skills.
  3. Knowledge and practical application experience in electrical/electronics, PLCs, A/C and D/D motors, drives and controls.
  4. Extensive experience with gear motors, pumps, & pneumatics.
  5. Knowledge of CMMS (MP2).
  6. Experience in metal fabrication and welding.
  7. Comprehensive knowledge in hydraulics, pneumatics troubleshooting and repair.
  8. Must have knowledge, skills and ability to successfully perform maintenance on electrical controls, adjustable motor drives, conveyors, automatic stretch wrapping equipment, and switchgears.
  9. Ability to communicate efficiently both verbal and written and work in a flexible team environment.
  10. Willingness to work shift work, variable start times, including overtime, and weekends (as scheduled).
  11. Proven ability to drive safety rules and regulations.
  12. Experience with industrial electronics and controls.
  13. Basic understanding of machinery and electronics, start/stop procedures, purpose, function and recognition of machine failure.
  14. Demonstrated ability to lift/move up to 50lbs.
  15. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and continuously meet deadlines.
  16. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with personnel at all levels of the organization. 
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience in packaging activities. 
  • 3-5 years of previous experience as an Electrician or Maintenance Mechanic (electrical, mechanical, and electronic equipment).
  • 1-year experience in VFFS packaging environment as packaging machine operator.
  • Experience and knowledge of Ishida scales, Bosch Baggers, Pacmac baggers
  • Experience and knowledge of Preventive Maintenance and Troubleshooting Procedures. 
  • Computer skills with email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint preferred.  
  • Ability to communicate efficiently in English both verbal and written and work in a flexible team environment.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
 Basic math skills – addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.
  • Demonstrated ability to use a calculator
  • Demonstrated ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
  • Resolve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced-high pressure environment, collaborating with co-workers and management.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities. 
  • Industrial Mechanic Certification a plus.
  • Industrial Technician Certification a plus.
  • Welding Certification a plus. 
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to work in food processing plant.
  • Prior experience in a fresh vegetable or food processing plant a plus.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be a current member of or willing to sign up with the Teamsters Local Union No. 890

May participate in safety inspections in on/off sight locations, which are located both in a warehouse and administrative office environment. Employee's work is also subject to the pressures of time constraints and deadlines.   The noise level in the work environment is normally low to moderate, high if the individual enters the food plant.
