Summary: Drives industrial forktruck to push, pull, lift, stack, or move materials throughout shop by performing the following duties.
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Examines router to determine material(s) needed. Understands material grades and type such as stainless, galvanized, and pickled and oiled steel and aluminum based on thickness, color coding and lot numbers.
 
Assists in opening job once material is received by entering appropriate information into computer, signing off on router, contacting necessary personnel.
 
Conducts periodic inventory, counts pieces, prints reports and balances inventory by making changes to quantity and bins as needed.
 
Operates control of forktruck or overhead crane to retrieve material, fixtures, component parts, and containers from stock.
 
Pulls proper quantity of material from stock and produces kits or proper lots of components for production jobs.
 
Organizes and maintains inventory locations, both physically and in computer system.
 
Uses forktruck to deliver finished parts to next operation as indicated on router. Removes and disposes of scrap from workstations.
 
Maintains storage area to ensure organization and cleanliness. Helps to keep aisle ways and workstations clean when time permits.
 
Completes daily forktruck inspection(s) and performs routine preventative maintenance on forktruck(s). Completes inspection log.
 
Dumps waste such as garbage, or recyclable materials such as steel, machining chips, etc into designated hoppers. Pumps any residual coolant out of shop floor hoppers into proper totes or drums for recycling.
 
Receives material into stock by entering information into computer system and moving received material to designated area.
 
Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), one year forktruck experience, and previous computer-entry experience are required. Experience in heavy steel industry preferred.
 
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak and deal effectively in stressful situations with employees of organization.
 
Math Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
 
Reasoning Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to deal effectively with employees of organization. Ability to prioritize, organize, and plan ahead.
