Essential Tasks:
  • Evaluate and analyze policies, contracts, State statutes, ordinances and other documents to assure fiscal and/or regulatory compliance.
  • Audit, analyze, and reconcile accounting records and general ledger accounts for accuracy and completeness; resolve differences and take corrective action.
  • Collaborates with the team members to meet all applicable deadlines and maintain accuracy.
  • Prepares audit schedules and assists internal and external auditors as needed.
  • Develops and maintains spreadsheets and files; provides data required for completion of periodic reports and documents.
  • Examine reports and documents prepared by other departments to determine fiscal and contractual compliance.
  • Prepare/review and analyze financial reports, annual audit schedules and footnotes.
  • Recommends  process  improvements,  participates  in  the  writing  and  updating  of  standard  operating  procedures,  and  attends meetings as required.
  • Performs other related accounting and financial duties as required.
  • Prepare correspondence and perform other administrative functions as required.
  • Respond and resolve customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Being able to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Skills/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university and have a minimum of 3 years of governmental and/or financial accounting experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as statutes, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and technical materials.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities while meeting critical deadlines.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to create and follow detailed procedures through multi-step processes.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to apply general accounting principles and methods.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized and abstract situations.
  • Strong working knowledge of PCs and related software such as spreadsheets, databases and word processing.
  • Ability to make good decisions.
