Essential Tasks:
  • Understand and execute the complete revenue and expenditure cycle from recognition through financial reporting in order to prepare financial reports for internal use as well as required state reporting.
  • Manage, prepare, and process payroll through the complete payroll cycle from time entry in Time Clock Plus to pay distribution.  Allocate payroll costs for staff working out of their departments.
  • Reconcile and prepare monthly insurance billings for employee benefits
  • Monthly reconciliation of multiple Clerk bank accounts  
  • Monthly reconcile subsidiary accounts in the accounting system to external systems. 
  • Prepare journal vouchers to record accounting entries and adjustments. 
  • Prepare audit schedules and assist internal and external auditors as needed. 
  • Process regular check runs to produce accounts payable checks and record wire payments.
  • Track expenses and produce monthly reports for the federal Title IV-D grant reimbursement and account for funds received
  • Being able to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Skills/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with course work in accounting or finance. Significant history of related job responsibilities may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as statutes, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and technical materials. 
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts. 
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. 
  • Ability to apply general accounting principles and methods.
  • Ability to research and understand statutes, policies, and manuals to ensure compliance in the areas of governmental accounting. 
  • Ability to follow multi-step process in following through detailed procedures. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities while meeting critical deadlines. 
  • Ability to make good decisions. 
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a lead team member with other employees in the work unit.
  • Ability to communicate well with people from varied backgrounds.
  • Ability to research resource materials.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work to meet necessary time requirements and workload.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail and to remain calm in an anxious, intense environment. 
  • Ability to operate a PC and/or mainframe-based systems.
  • Proficient use of Excel and the ability to learn industry-based software.
  • Ability to cover work of other employees to ensure that deadlines are met.

  • Ability to make quick, objective decisions.
