The Director of Information Technology establishes the Information Technology strategy for the organization and executes it.  Manages the IT Department to support user needs.  Ensures the IT environment is secure and protected against internal and external threats.

  • Lead IT strategic planning efforts including, but not limited to, the identification and evaluation of new technologies, the prioritization of IT initiatives and the management of IT systems to help transform the business to meet digital opportunities and threats.
  • Develops and implements business continuity protocols to minimize disruption to business operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss.
  • Establishes efficiency and efficacy standards, providing recommendations for improvement of IT infrastructure.
  • Responsible for compliance with IT regulations involving privacy, security and other controls.
  • Analyzes IT infrastructure and systems performance to assess operating costs, productivity levels, upgrade requirements, and other metrics and needs.
  • Oversees security of systems, networks, and enterprise information.
  • Facilitates IT security audits or investigations.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
  • Coordinates multisite IT systems via enterprise resource planning (ERP). 
  • Support PSI’s business, culture and customer needs.
  • Limited to moderate travel to PSI worksites required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Oversees contract and vendor management of our systems, ensuring resources are appropriately skilled and meet company requirements.
  • Hires and trains a lean IT staff.
  • Schedules, organizes, and assigns projects to members of the IT team. Has a strong preference for Agile methodologies.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. 
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.

  • Candidate is customer oriented and can learn the business and its needs to recommend and identify opportunities in IT to create business value.
  • Candidate can lead a multi-year roadmap of improvements and maintain organizational momentum.
  • Ideal candidate possesses strong knowledge and proven execution of Cloud strategies in compliant environments (AWS or Azure). Government is preferred, but secure private sector is acceptable.
  • The Candidate will demonstrate knowledge of DevSecOps trends.
  • Understands the concept of lean technology implementation and agile methods of implementation to keep pace with business drivers that pivot quickly.
  • Strikes the right balance between compliance/security and technology evolution / capability with Pacific Shipyards’ corporate culture and scales solutions to match.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or technology related field required; master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • At least 10 years of progressive IT or technology experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ proven leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and direct an IT team.
  • Experience working with business partners to determine needs and develop appropriate technical solutions/responses to solve business problems.
  • Shipyard/Industrial Experience valuable

  • Candidate must be familiar with the following regulations: NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-171, NIST SP 800-172, DFARS 252.204-7012, and the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC).
  • Candidates must have experience creating or contributing to documentation in one of the following areas: System Security Management Plans, System Security Plans (SSPs), Security Assessment Reports (SARs), Remediation and Mitigation Plans, or Plan of Actions and Milestones (PoA&Ms).
  • Candidates must have a strong technical understanding of information and information systems security, as well as experience in implementing and managing IT security solutions.
  • Knowledge of computer and network vulnerabilities, plus the ability to correlate test data and provide value-added participation during risk assessments and mitigation recommendations is required.
  • Candidates must have demonstrated ability to interpret technical data and generate compliance documentation.

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.

  • Must show proof of your legal right to work in the United States
  • This position requires US Citizenship due to clearance required for base access
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Must be able to successfully obtain and maintain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to federally controlled work sites
  • All candidates must submit to and pass a post-offer drug screening and a background check before employment begins. Failure to complete any of these steps will result in disqualification
  • Valid State of Hawaii drivers’ license in good standing, class 3 or higher
  • Candidates must have access to reliable transportation to get to work and other job sites on time for the start of shift
