Job Summary:           The Addiction Counselor’s responsibility is working with individuals with substance use disorders by providing assessment and treatment.  Treatment may be in individual, group therapy, family therapy, psycho-educational offerings, and making a referral to other helping agencies.  The Addiction Counselor will coordinate relationships between other human service agencies and be a consultant for courts, law enforcement, and the public in general.  All other duties outlined in current job description. 
Skills/Knowledge:     This position requires organizational skills, as well as knowledge and skills in coordination of client care.  An understanding and application of The Principles of Effective Treatment (NIDA NIH Publication No. 00-4180) are necessary to function in this role. 
A working knowledge of the Twelve Step recovery process is necessary.
