About us:

Quinlan Partners (quinlanpartners.com) is an internationally ranked and recognized leader in global due diligence, investigations, and business intelligence that helps clients identify and mitigate risk, shape strategy, and achieve success. Our investigative due diligence practice includes providing in-depth, investigative, primary-source research to investors -- including leading private equity and hedge funds and their counsel -- to develop a deep, fundamental understanding of companies, their management teams, and their prospects.

We are seeking a highly inquisitive, motivated, and experienced financial analyst to support our investigations team in New York this summer. The MBA Summer Associate Internship will offer an early-career financial analyst with demonstrated interest in investigative research the opportunity to learn from and support a team of seasoned corporate investigators and former investigative journalists and gain exposure to investigative methodologies and resources that can be leveraged to analyze public and private companies in the context of an investment decision or business relationship.

Our ideal candidate:

The position is available to students enrolled in or recently graduated from an MBA program. This ideal candidate will have at least 1-3 years of professional experience in sell- or buy-side financial analysis at an investment bank, hedge fund, or private equity firm. Candidates who also have work experience in management consulting or other relevant areas, such as journalism or law, are encouraged to apply as well.

Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in and aptitude for investigative and primary-source research into companies and their management teams that leverages public records and other open sources. Demonstrated experience with financial diligence is a plus. The MBA Summer Associate Internship  role requires a strong work ethic, excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and intellectual curiosity, as well as the ability to collaborate with a team while simultaneously executing deadline-driven tasks.

Responsibilities:

The MBA Summer Associate will get exposure to the following, among other tasks and trainings:

  • Navigating public records and databases covering court filings, recorded documents, financial filings and disclosures, corporate records and news reports, among other sources of information in the U.S and around the world;
  • Supporting internal teams by undertaking discrete components of in-depth public record and open source investigations into people and companies of interest to our clients, and other aspects of various ongoing investigations;
  • Identifying and locating individuals who may be knowledgeable about our clients’ areas of interest and developing an effective and compliance-focused plan to conduct primary source interviews in order to obtain relevant insights and information;
  • Drafting and editing materials for client-facing reports for an audience of professional investors and other professionals;
  • Supporting business development efforts and other administrative tasks as needed.

MBA Summer Associates will also have access to mentorship and networking opportunities from and alongside Quinlan Partners staff, including the senior management team, and receive letters of recommendation and references, when and if applicable.

Applicants should provide a resume, a cover letter, a writing sample (ideally a research-based assignment), and a copy of an unofficial transcript. Please note that incomplete applications will not be considered.

Interested candidates may apply directly through the LinkedIn “Apply” button or on our website by May 1, 2024.

Compensation Range: $25-50/hr, commensurate with experience.
